After having read this, that manager will need a few more counterclockwise turns of that screw.

Three weeks ago we we found out that my Fil had been taken to the hospital with a bleeding in one lung.
Apparently it was pure luck that he survived after getting several blood transfusions.
Knowing that he has had a history of thrombosis and has been eating blood thinning medicine since twenty years, we took an emergency drive to Germany in case it was the last chance to see him.
After doing a lot of tests, CT-scans and MRI, they decided he's well enough to be sent home.
Yesterday he got the results of one of the tests. It's lung cancer.
Quite ironic since he never smoked and always ate well.
My wife is completely shattered, she remembers how utterly nasty the cancer was to my mom a couple of years ago.
Well, merry f***ing Christmas to us.
At least the kids are to young to really understand what's happening.

Firtly , feel for you, could the cancer he has and Mil had be to do with envoirment? from what I remember East Germany was basically semi-burnt fossil fuels and smoke!...

Not my Mil, my mom.
But just to add to the irony, he's actually living in a luftkurort.

Thanks, as I wrote this post I realized I haven't really processed my Moms death yet.
There was nothing I could do about it...

So sorry to hear, I hope there are treatments available to him. I lost my FIL 9 weeks after our child was born (his first grandchild) to F'n cancer. He was very happy to have made it long enough to see his grandson. I'm still sad that my son didn't get to know his grandfather (and vice-versa), as my FIL was an awesome guy.

He's going to get chemotherapy, that's all I know.
My daughter was born four months before my mom went away. She was also on chemotherapy and extremely sensitive to infections, so we weren't allowed to visit. Something I deeply regret now.
My mom and daughter never met.

I hope things go well. They are learning more each day so there is hope.
Lost my father to cancer several years ago. Chemo almost killed him but did give him a few more months than he might of had.

My prayers are with you and your family. I know how rough it is watching a family member wither away from that bloody disease. My grandfather died from lung cancer. My mother told me that his last words were "Call Donathan! He knows how to fix the machine." The machine he was referring to was the morphine dispenser. I was in basic training for the Army at the time.
God bless CP brother.
When you are dead, you won't even know that you are dead. It's a pain only felt by others.
Same thing when you are stupid.

MY aunt was taken from us by cancer just before Christmas, when I was much younger. Tough as nails, she refused to stay (and die) in hospital, and lived out her last few days with family. God knows why, but I was her favourite nephew -- I was nothing special, but she cared.
I could not empathise more with your feelings. The "happy holiday" cannot possibly be happy, when such things happen.
Just force yourself to remember the better moments.

Well that certainly sucks * on a massive scale, especially since he didn't smoke.
My condolences to you & your family. I'm sure I have nothing to say that will make it any easier, just hang in there.

I'm just sitting here waiting (possibly two days) for reply on my Apple Dev acct so I thought I'd write this up.
Android
I signed up for a Google Dev acct (Android) and it took about 5 minutes to get set up @ cost of $25USD.
I then had to set up all the details of my app so I could put it in the Play Store.
All told it probably took about 45 minutes for the work on my part to get my app in the store.
However, the account sign up only took the 5 minutes I mentioned and then it only took about 30 minutes for a reply on my app (it requires very few access rights). That's amazing though. My app was in the Google Play store within 30 minutes. This is my first Android app ever. Wow.
Contrast that too...
Apple
I have a friend who is helping me and he has an LLC that I've placed my work under.
In the Android world, I just add the name of the company and everything is good.
IN the Apple world, they force you to submit for a D-U-N-S number.
That took over 4 weeks to get back.
Since I was attempting to add my dev account under the official company, I waited 4 weeks.
So yesterday I went in and completed the sign up on Apple (after 4 weeks with the DUNS number).
I paid ($99USD) with his company credit card. The payment went through (they take your money with no problem).
And then I got an email stating that I had to upload my picture ID.
I had to upload a passport, driver's license, etc.
That really felt odd. I had to take a picture of it and upload it. Weird.
I did that and I got a reply.
"We will contact you within the next 2 days."
So I'm just sitting here waiting. In this world of automation!
