I think, that because @OriginalGriff is such the guru he is, that if he replies to your post, you should receive 10x CP points.
If he replies to a comment of your post, you should get 5x CP points.
What does OriginalGriff get? Satisfaction of elevating his fellow (or fellow-ette) programmer.

GURU?
Ahem:
... "counselor, who helps mold values, shares experiential knowledge as much as literal knowledge, an exemplar in life, an inspirational source and who helps in the spiritual evolution of a student." The term also refers to someone who primarily is one's spiritual guide, who helps one to discover the same potentialities that the gurus already realized

Just for mentioning him, I'll give you +5 myself.

It may be wishful thinking, but is there an application you can install on windows 10 that will execute php files? Sort of like an emulator or VM? All I want to do is test a WCF service that I am writing from php.
I see articles on how to configure IIS to execute php but I don't want to mess with my IIS. I also found Apache Lounge but not actually sure what it will install.

Easyphp[^]
xampp[^]
Both install some components that allow you to configure MySQL, PHP... and execute everything from your browser.
I've used them to program my web page and test it in my computer before posting it to the world...
Hope this helps...

Was going to recommend XAMPP as well

Thank you very much.
Based on the websites, I thought xampp would be better so I tried it first and could not get it to work. Easy php is just that. Easy.
Thank you.

In my windows 10 install (in a virtual machine) it needs to be reinstalled after each restart. Not a painful thing once you know that the mods (like phpmyadmin) are installed in a specific folder.
I can't remember which one it is now, but if you need it just ask.

Just...install php. You don't need to do anything wonky.

What you need to do is look through the menu to the left of this window, and pick an appropriate forum for your question.

Found one. It's under General Discussions labeled the Lounge.
Awesome. Thanks so much for your help. You're the best.

Oh, I'm so terribly sorry.
I forgot that rules of the Lounge, CP in general, religion, etc, are for others to follow, because you're above such things.
Other members, who are so far beneath you, would have to use the Web Development forum for such a question.
Please accept my humblest apologies. I forgot what a wonderful person I was addressing.

That hasn't stopped you before. But, OK, I'll obey you. I am thankful. Because your opinion, Mark Wallace, means something to me and it would damage me so much to have some person on the internet, known for picking fights, to pick a fight with me. I just don't know what I would do.

Y'know, I've worked with people like you (I expect most of us have), whose main concern is their image, so they do barely enough work to get by, and blow it up out of all proportion, when talking to the boss (i.e. me), while the guys who get the real work done, and go the extra mile, just get sh1t on.
Feel free to not bother me, any more.

Incredible. You nailed it. Perfect description. Yep, that's me. So close. How do you manage to be so smart and yet get the real work done? Incredible.
Truly incredible.
