May your code compile, may your unit tests all pass and may your builds be successful

May you have disabled Windows 10 automatic updates ?

That actually bit me on the bum just this week

I did deactivate them in August this year, after my Lenovo laptop lost his audio device driver subsequently to a MS automatic update. Responsability could be on MS, or on Lenovo, or on a combination of both of them ; I just don't have time to spend to investigate on this kind of problem at the moment (especially because the "Factory Restore" method on this laptop does not seem to work properly). So I decided to deactivate updates, being extra careful on which sites I visit and which executables I download. Anyway, I never use any downloaded executable before testing it in a sandbox virtual machine first.

Actually I have a machine that's been refusing to install any updates for months - it's still on Win10 1607, has failed all attempts to upgrade to 1703 and all cumulative updates for 1607 since, except for this month's, which have finally succeeded.
I was getting ready to flatten it and clean install 1709 as soon as it comes out next week or so (Tuesday?), but this give me hope this won't be necessary.

It's actually good for some: Friday the 13th is Murphy's day off.

Fear of Friday the Thirteenth is actually the domain of one of the worlds major religions - so all you need to do is switch to one of the ones that ignores it and you'll be safe.*

No! No! No!
I'm not afraid of phobias - just uttering words that end in 'phobia'

No code or build problems, but there's another thing that bugs me:
I ordered a Dell 7577 notebook two weeks ago, and paid in advance using IDEAL, but the status on the Dutch Dell website now tells me that it has been cancelled !
After hanging on the phone for a long time I finally found out what the problem was, a problem on the Dell side with the coupling of the payments via IDEAL.
Never had problems paying this way before !
Looking on the internet it turns out Dell has had problems with this for years now

Did you get your virtual money back?

No, I'm still waiting on a reaction from Dell, but as I have seen comments of other displeased customers this can take quite a while

Why did you get a computer from DHell? They are likely the most incompetent at things. I had three of their computers fry themselves in the exact same way. The second two were replacements for the previous ones. I gave up on them after that.
Yes, I reported the issues and ended up getting money out of it.
What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question?
The metaphorical solid rear-end expulsions have impacted the metaphorical motorized bladed rotating air movement mechanism.
Do questions with multiple question marks annoy you???

Well, I read positive reviews about their XPS series and gaming notebooks, but of course this says nothing about the quality of service and support ...
