Anyone else contracting? I'm in a contract but I have no work. Like literally I beg and they have no work for me
That happens when they have too much spare cash.
"Before entering on an understanding, I have meditated for a long time, and have foreseen what might happen. It is not genius which reveals to me suddenly, secretly, what I have to say or to do in a circumstance unexpected by other people; it is reflection, it is meditation." - Napoleon I

They hired me. Their IT department tried to deny me access. I spent a month arguing with support folks who told me SQL Server is server software and should not run on a personal notebook. I got access as a project finished, and there's no new one

One of those places where they think locking down developer machines is a good idea?
What about the rest of the development staff? Is there any? And they couldn't/wouldn't explain to support they didn't know what they were talking about?

Hey Chtistian, I thought you had retired a few years ago. I have also had contracts in the past where it took the manager some time to figure out what I was supposed to do. But as long as they paid me ...
Nah, I have no plans to retire. I love it too much. I also like having money
The thing is, I'm bored and I don't see why they'd renew me without work.
How much longer on the contract? If IT doesn't want you and fought against giving you necessary access, the likelihood of being renewed is nil. Start looking for a new contract elsewhere.
Keep a record of asking for work and not receiving anything, and keep a record of the denials of access. IT may just want you gone, but it's best to have evidence of wrongdoing on their part, just in case. People can be stupidly vindictive, and CYA is always in vogue.

Do you still get paid?
If so, is it remote?
If so, can I take your place?

Lol. I get $1000 a day. I've worked remote almost exclusively since 2003.

1000 a day remote... that's better than winning the lottery.
