Yesterday we went for a walk in the woods near the "Hans & Grietje" (Hansel & Gretel) restaurant, but that turned out to be a bad idea. The restaurant was closed of course, which was to be expected, and after the heavy rainfall of the last weeks the grounds were very muddy.
The first part was ok with a nice concrete path, but then we decided to take a shortcut back and got into muddy terrain.
Our progress was slow, but after hours of plowing through the mud we finally got back to the starting point.
Luckily it did not rain and we managed to get back before dark, and did not fall into the hands of a cannibalistic witch, phew

You should have dropped stones along the way as markers.

I let my dog pick a route (from home). Found out too late once she doesn't always know where's she's going and wound up on the wrong side of a creek. An hour detour through shoulder-high swampy grass. I thought: If there's quicksand here, the dog won't find her way out, etc.
It was only in wine that he laid down no limit for himself, but he did not allow himself to be confused by it.

Many years ago, we started a hike over a mountain in NH (Waterville Valley to the Kancamagus Highway) too late in the day. Fortunately, I had a flashlight and managed to keep finding the trail, which included creek crossings. We were lucky not to get benighted.

CodeProject can now legally order a drink south of the border (in the USA).

Thank you for recovering that repressed memory for me.

To be fair, mass-produced Canadian 🍺 is very nearly as bad. But there are a lot of good microbreweries on both sides of the border.

This place serves beer that will curl your hair: https://www.skagitbrew.com/[^]
They have their "Two Penny Ale" for example, which they can't legally call beer in Washington state because it has too much alcohol in it.
Plus you can skip the side of (good) food. There's enough substance to the drinks.
