Gabapentin, that is.
My mom is taking these for pain.
This stuff knocks my mom out, and makes her quite loopy.
She just told me she had a dream where someone was hitting the I-80 Bridge (between Iowa and Illinois) with a giant spatula.
She has also told our dog to bite me several times for no reason, getting a strange look from said dog each time (the dog is a very intelligent Irish Wolfhound who loves me to pieces and would never bite me).
I think we need to talk to her doctor about these side effects.
What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question?

Do questions with multiple question marks annoy you???

Sending it as an email to your doctor could have been better instead of posting it here.

Hitting the I-80 Bridge with a giant spatula.
That would make a great album cover!

As others have suggested here, I think your mother needs to consult her doctor asap ... now, that's assuming your mother was prescribed GabaPentin by a competent, licensed, physician who took into account her age, her general and specific health problems, etc.
If you have any doubts about the physician who (I assume) prescribed this drug, then get a second opinion from another doctor in another medical practice.
best wishes for your mother's health, and your sanity, Bill

Before you talk to the doctor, capture some of this stuff on video and post it on YouTube. It's going to go viral, I assure you!
BTW - my mother does much the same, but without meds. It's sad to watch, but it's part of life, winding down...

I watched my father-in-law mistake his own daughter for a past girlfriend whilst on pain meds. Creepy! They also caused him to call me in the middle of the night confused and disturbed about some crazy dream or hallucination he had just had...and having absolutely no idea what time it was. They found another medication that worked without the loopiness, but not sure what it was now. Good luck!

You're right about them being loopy pills. A friend of mine ended up addicted to them (along with a number of other painkillers and anti suppressants) for years. The withdrawals were unpleasant to say the least.
If you haven't looked into its principal use then I suggest you do, as hopefully there would be some less potent medication that would be suitable for your mum... fingers crossed anyway.

I don't know. My dog's lost 7 in the past 3 months or so (with everybody in town wrapped round her little finger and giving her treats she needed to, she's not ill!)
