It's no good asking us; you'd have to be the Judge of that.

Is that from the movie(s) or the original comic (2000AD)?
I started with the comic from about issue 5 or so (and the cat turned the entire collection into bedding material... )

I started "late" like you, but soon found the first few weeks' issues.
Movies? The Sneaky Typoed Male Horse one was fun enough* (at least it tried to look like Dredd's world), but the more recent one was so p1ss poor, and so not Judge Dredd, that it provoked me to make one of the very few comments I ever made on IMDB (gone, now, because I deleted my account when they demanded my telephone and credit-card numbers).
So yeah, the real thing -- and anyone who doesn't like it can Feel the Fist of Dredd!
* Until he revealed his face, of course -- I never understood why he did that; we all know what he looks like, so why not stick to the tradition?
And Fergie?!? I just take him as a completely different person with the same Christian name.
Oh, and "artificial pixels" -- Bwah-hah-hah-hah-haaaaaa!

Yeah the comics had a real sense of humour to them as well - like Judge Cal sentencing the whole Mega City 1 population to death in strict alphabetical order...

Wasn't that Judge Fish? Or was it after <Spoiler> Judge fish was assassinated?
I dunno. My memory's failing me.
One of us must be getting old -- and I'm pretty sure it's you, because I'm absolutely certain that I'm not.
My fondest memory of Dredd is a one-prog episode where he chases a guy all over town, and then locks him up forever, all because he'd dropped a candy wrapper (or something similarly trivial). I think that that was one of the stories that set the benchmark for the series.
You could never really tell if the Judges were the good guys or a totalitarian SS, which is so real (and currently pertinent) that it's believable.

That was why Dredd assassinated Judge Fish - to stop the executions.
Do you remember the "mutant rad flea" episode? "I've got 'em. I'm just not scratching."

In my constant battle to avoid cloud backups and handle my own backup requirements (spanning multiple OSs, devices and location - why make it easy?) I've been playing around with QNAPs and the QTS OS that you use to manage your storage.
It's brilliant. Not in a "it does everything for me" way (though it kinda does), or it's an amazing innovation way, or in a "it's the best UI I've seen" way (though it's definitely close). It's more that it's so ridiculously easy to use.
Think iPad interface mixed with a classic desktop (MacOS LaunchPad style), with Windows/MacOS/GNOME style windows.
It's fast, it's responsive, and it's so unobtrusive and unassuming that I forget: this thing is running in my browser. I remote into servers constantly, and this, to me, is what remoting into a server should always be like.
Kudos to QNAP. Seriously impressed.
cheers

Good to know. Thanks!
I can also recommend Synology's web app.

Their front ends for the QNAP NAS boxes have generally been really really good over the last few years.
I have an old TS-509 with a raid 5 configuration on 5x2TB disks and it is just fine and dandy!

I recently bought a Synology and I agree the web interface is excellent.

About a year from today we in the USA will experience what has been dubbed "The Great American Eclipse." The whole of the USA will experience a partial solar eclipse but along a narrow strip stretching from the east coast to the west coast there will be a total eclipse. This extensive eclipse over America is a rare event.

If you get a chance to be in the totality area, it's worth seeing - we went down to Cornwall for the 1999 UK one, and despite the cloud and rain cover it still made the hairs on the back of your neck rise.

Just checked it's path an I'm only about a 45 minute drive south of the total eclipse band. I might have to take a little road trip next year.
