I envy you a lot. I wish I could visit Chicago, at least I'd visit the city whew my favourite fantasy saga is set into (the saga is "Dresden Files" for the curious).

The Dresden Files was a good series of books, and a good (but unrelated) TV series. If they had stayed closer to the books they might even have got a second series, and then it could have got interesting! Pity really.

You forget the awful casting BTW The Dresden Files is a good series, it's ongoing and I'm craving for Jim Butcher to finish the next one

Thank you.
It's a while I'm looking for something similar... and being given an advice like this from a person who I esteem a lot promises really well.

Wasn't it cancelled in Chapter 8 or so? I liked it as well, but never saw anything else...

There are fifteen books: dresden files books - Google Search[^] - which were the "basis" for the TV series. And while I enjoyed the TV, the books were a whole load better!

Actually Butcher is writing the 16th, he has plans for 19-20 short novels like the one he's writing now and an ending apocalyptic trilogy for which the titles will be "Stars and Stones", "Hell's Bells" and "Empty Night" [JB said "they are called curses for a reason"].

You're welcome - here in Italy there is no edition of The Dresden Files. I discovered it through tvtropes, downloaded them in "ebook" and then ordered the whole bunch from Amazon to my great impoverishment.

Chicago has nice areas too which puts it one huge step on Detroit.
The best thing they could do to fix the latter would be line up 10,000 D9 dozers blade to blade about 30 miles to the west of the lake shore and just plow the entire wreck into the water.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

My gf says Belle Isle Park (982-acre island featuring trails, an aquarium, museum, conservatory, golf course & playground.) is nice to visit.
Otherwise, maybe take a quick jaunt over to Canada, assuming the lines of mass exodus aren't too long.

The Art Institute is on Woodward Ave. Greenfield Village in Dearborn. Mexican town has 2 good restaurants (Xochimilco and El Zocalo) from my memory. Cruise Lake Shore Drive in the Grosse Pointes. The downtown is interesting. Cranbrook and some lovely homes in Bloomfield Hills. Birmingham and Royal Oak are fun towns.
I grew up in Detroit. I now live in Chicago.

If you get to Chicago, you might want to see the Museum of Science and Industry[^], although one review sounds like it can get expensive. I'm not sure if that is the one I saw many years ago, but if so, my mind was blown.
