Last day of full time work, I'm officially into semi retirement. Having refused to work in Singapore or full time any more I was offered work from home 10 days a month till the end of the year, astonishing as I think this is the first WFH they have ever entertained.
A week to close up my affairs in SG then back to Cairns.

It is a really weird feeling knowing I don't have to go to work on Monday. I can go home without a short term deadline to get back to Singapore to work. I have so many thing I want to do, woodworking, pottery, turn a jungle into a garden, gonna be busy.

That’s the problem with retirement. You never get a day off!

Is Cairns your home? (please don't say you're an Aussie-mexican)
anyway compared to Singapore: much quieter and far more relaxed, much cheaper cars, but no 24 hour noodle shops and lower quality internet/mobile.
This internet thing is amazing! Letting people use it: worst idea ever!

Cairns is the new home, used to be Sydney. Just enough weather to make it comfortable and relieve the boredom of SGs weather. When I listen the only thing I hear are birds and frogs (we have a huge pond in the backyard) no construction, no roar of the city, no screaming Maserati's at 2am, bucolic is the best description.
I have never liked noodles and 24hr eateries hold no attraction for me so I won't miss them at all. There are quite a few good restaurants around but not the range of SG naturally. I may lose some weight hopefully.

Close enough? 🥁
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

So as an old rummy when you play cards you prefer to be Solitaire-y? If your wife interrupts you do you get the urge to poker in the eye? Euchre-ently seem to not want to be social. Maybe a vacation - take the family to Texas - hold em close and try to bridge the growing divide. Just a suggestion.
I could gin up a few more...
