once again ms ass-u-me to know what we want or in fact must have, and just go ahead and do it.
This internet thing is amazing! Letting people use it: worst idea ever!

Agreed, but if I don't have the password, how can I use it to remote in?

When you click on the user profile folder in Explorer, does it not give you the opportunity to take ownership?
If not, try to explicitly launch explorer.exe as an administrator, then select the folder, Properties, Security, Advanced. See if there's anything you can do there to take over.

Thanks, I'll try that.

Have you ever logged into the same Microsoft account you used to activate your laptop from your work computer? Or vice versa?
|
|
|
|
|
No, that's what's concerning me. It's a new machine and just starting programming on it. I noticed the account after I started having issues with Access Denied errors in Visual Studio opening and saving files. I was logged into my local account, but it was trying to save to this new account.

Obviously, somehow MS discovered the link between the two accounts and decided to be too helpful. MS does like to be too helpful, and we are living in the era of run-away AI, after all.

Obviously!
I do think that both accounts are linked, but not sure how.

It's not a customized IIS app pool identity is it? Those are the only other accounts that show here on my system which also have full profiles.

It could be. I'm writing a Web MVC service, but where did it get dhutchings from? I would have thought it would use some other type of username.

Thanks for the link.
I'll do a little more research into it and see if SQL Server is the culprit.

Imagine a speed dating event with 100 guys and 20 girls. Except it wasn't guy&girl kinda event. Not exactly guy&guy either.
It was the engineer meet new employers kind. Apparently this HackerX thing is huge. From Edinburgh to Vegas.
Sit in line for an hour and then chat with three companies, 5 minutes each. Free pizza and beer. I cannot quite decide how I felt about the whole thing, but I sure didnt fancy going into the second line. Have you done something similar?

I think that the danger comes more from honesty inarticulate speech patterns,
Sober interview:
"Why do you want to write code for XYZ Co.?"
"Ever since I came across a computer, I've been fascinated by the possibilities of how far we can push this technology - passion, enthusiasm, blah, blah, blah ... and I've always wanted to work for XYZ more than any other firm because they're so innovative and wonderful etc., etc."
Drunk interview:
"Why do you want to write code for XYZ Co.?"
"Coding? Yeah, right. Bad career choice many years ago, I suppose. Too late to change it now - only s**t that people will give me any money for these days. Honestly mate, it's like that Smiths song, really - you know the one where he says 'I know that I'd feel more fulfilled making Christmas cards for the mentally ill' or something like that? That's kind of how I feel, but what can you do? A gig's a gig, I guess, no matter how bleeding soul devouring it is. Gissa job, will you mate? Those bills won't pay themselves. I mean, I don't actually want to spend my life in a corporate hell-hole but yours will do as well as any other. Are the pubs open yet?"
