Mark_Wallace wrote: Windows 10 is just plain awful More emotion and zero substance. If it is so plain awful, why are so many people saying they have no problem with it?
Mark_Wallace wrote: Everything is harder to do, Again, no specifics.
Let me show you how it's done. For example, I love in Outlook that when I go to include an attachment, the drop-down shows the last X number of files I've had open on my machine. That is a productivity improvement.
Now that I gave you an emotionless example, maybe you can do the same? For example, the ribbon maybe? I was once like you (I hate to, but must admit it). Many eons ago when I went to a Microsoft event and saw what was coming, I hated the ribbon. Thought it was clunky and messy. My first reaction was "Dang, Microsoft, you idiots!" But then, since I am civilized, I started using the ribbon and after a little getting used to, found that it was much better in most cases. There were still some things hard to find though. But this was many, many years ago. Please don't tell me you're still upset about the ribbon? Who would know. You can't articulate the specifics of your complaints.
By the way, Microsoft did a ton of research on the ribbon and have data to backup that it is more productive. It was not done to be cool. If so, they would have removed it right away as so many people (myself included) thought it was hideous at first.
Mark_Wallace wrote: arrogant attitude, All I have done is ask you for specifics because I don't see things the way you do. Dang, you are so sensitive. Chill out bro.

CodeWraith wrote: My Visual Studio license had evaporated, as it does every few months. Why does this sh*t always happen when nobody is here to look up the license keys? Unimportant, because Mickeysoft also pretends not to know me anymore. Even with a license key I could not do anything at the moment. Used to happen to me twice a year like clockwork. I'd come in to work, fire up VS and... license key had expired. Except when we checked, Microsoft's dashboards still showed it as valid and active. Only way to fix it was to break the connection to my work email then re-establish it and go through the signup process. Hasn't happened for almost 12 months, so I'm a bit nervous that it'll break at any moment.
OT: Mickeysoft sounds like a name that Disney would use for their internal software team.

Yeah, MS can be a pain. At the moment, I'm especially p*ssed off at their continual Windows Update problems. They really need to improve their QA on that process.
With VS, I've never experienced licensing issues. Though, perhaps, its because I go with the Standard subscription, instead of the Cloud subscription. With Standard, if the license expires everything continues working fine; you simply can't upgrade to the next version.
If you're experiencing the license issues that frequently, maybe something to consider? Though, in fairness, you shouldn't have to work around MS issues.

Any day when you feel your job is pointless, life is futile, and you are getting nothing useful done: just remember, there is a man in Germany who for his entire working life has been - and will continue until he retires - fitting indicator blinkers to BMWs.

They used to make sure we knew our hand signals, as well, when talking a road test to get a drivers license. The don't anymore.
The comments on modern hand signals I could use as a followup are rather obvious.
