Agreed. Great place. If only they would stop the CCC's that humiliate me.
If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

Yeah, give us 10CC instead!

I write my articles as an html page in the project. I downloaded the CodeProject css file and include that as well. That way I can write my article as I go, and when it comes time to actually create it on code project, it takes all of five minutes (10 if there are a lot of images). You're much less likely to get screwed by your internet connection that way.

Thanks. And thanks to all for the encouragement. I submitted what is probably the first draft a little while ago.

His friends will swear they didn’t hear him say anything, but yes, he would still be wrong.

Are you still in touch with the regulars from the early hours ? (I am thinking Christian Graus, Chris Losinger, Megan Forbes, Anna-Jayne - who came in the Lounge not so long ago - Paul Watson - Clickety!, Mick Martin - where is he by the way, long time no see any scrotum - Nish, Michael Dunn, Uwe Keim, Colin MacKay, Shog - CPHog ! - Rama Krishna, Christopher Duncan, Chris Meech, Trollslayer, David Stone, Karl,...)

Occasionally yes, but in 20 years you can imagine life has moved on in the various ways it does. I know some have left the industry disillusioned, and some moved on to bigger and better things. Shog went to work for SO a couple of years after it started and was doing well last I saw (which admittedly was a long time ago)
I still owe Uwe many, many beers. I plan on honouring that.

I owe a lot of them virtual beers, because besides being nice people to chat with in the Lounge, they also helped me a lot back then when I was starting in the industry and struggling with C++ and MFC.
If you plan to see Uwe in Germany - in a post-Corona world probably, don't forget to say you are in the area, I'd be happy to join and meet IRL

I am living near the German border, Baden-Württemberg.
Bavaria, damn, I have been mistaking your profile flag for the Belgian one all this time ( Nelek sounds Flemmish ). *facepalm*

Nelek has nothing to do with that. It is just a small variation of the nickname I have used since I started chatting in college with mIRC back then in my birth city.
Then I came to north germany, moved a couple of times and I now live relativelly near Munich.

I thought we still had those on a regular basis, and you guys have simply grown quite skilled at fixing it before anyone notices.

I remember, and fondly carry the wrong join date as a memento of marvelous times in the industry, and our community. Even though I don't actively program anymore, except for occasional personal projects, I still consider this site my home on the Internet. I haven't contributed much in the last decade or so, and I wouldn't blame you if I got deleted, but this community is my family. I have a great affection for all who frequent the site, it being the only truly useful site on the 'Net for those who code. I've learned a bunch, and taught a bit, and never spent a moment here that wasn't enjoyable and/or useful. I can't thank you enough, Chris, for the magnificent site that you, and Uwe, et al, created all those years ago. Happy New Year, my distant friend, and may God grant you many more years of ever increasing success. This is my home, and until I'm kicked out - screaming and biting - I shall remain.
