The Save button doubles up as the Publish button, depending on the status of teh "this article is being worked on" checkbox, and it autosaves every sixty seconds as well - thanks Chris! - so it isn't really needed at all until you want to close the window.

A static "menu bar" type approach would be better and more consistent though, I agree.

Do you know if your internet was dead before you started typing in earnest, or did it fail only after an hour or so? Our system should have been keeping a veritable stream of auto-save copies we should be able to find (and which should have appeared back when you went to edit).

Thank you. No need to worry, I should have seen the Save Draft button.
I am not sure how long, but I am sure some of the changes were done before crapped out. I check my email from time to time and I have to keep track of some surveillance cameras.
I love updates, after allowing a Template and/or a dotnet sdk update (of course I know better), a new server template is throwing an unhandled exception even before I edit it. Hopefully, I can find it.

If you can keep your head while those about you are losing theirs, perhaps you don't understand the situation.

No need to hit "Save". It auto-saves every minute (if you've made changes)

Actually, there was a new update to the SDK to match the Template. Downloaded and installed the tarball. Life is good.

I keep thinking I should write an article on something (I am an author in another life), but every time I think of something interesting to write about and check... there it is, someone else has already done it! This goes to show what a good resource CP is - it mostly has stuff I care about. Wink | ;-)

I write my articles as an html page in the project. I downloaded the CodeProject css file and include that as well. That way I can write my article as I go, and when it comes time to actually create it on code project, it takes all of five minutes (10 if there are a lot of images). You're much less likely to get screwed by your internet connection that way.

I just got the mail for DPC++ contest : The Great Cross-Architecture Challenge[^]

I just realized that I have not even the slightest idea what this is all about. Sigh | :sigh:

It looks like technology is not waiting for me anymore. Smile | :)

I joined CP in early 2001 (My whoiswho profile shows later, but that date was after the Database Event, which probably only Chris and Mick Martin and JSOP still remember), so this is my 20th CP cakeyear. Back then I was part of the people developing and using technologies - But coding has changed a lot since then, so many new fields, new applications, new platforms, clouding, connectivity, now I think I am part of the people enduring technology Big Grin | :-D

Occasionally yes, but in 20 years you can imagine life has moved on in the various ways it does. I know some have left the industry disillusioned, and some moved on to bigger and better things. Shog went to work for SO a couple of years after it started and was doing well last I saw (which admittedly was a long time ago)

I still owe Uwe many, many beers. I plan on honouring that.

I owe a lot of them virtual beers, because besides being nice people to chat with in the Lounge, they also helped me a lot back then when I was starting in the industry and struggling with C++ and MFC. Big Grin | :-D

If you plan to see Uwe in Germany - in a post-Corona world probably, don't forget to say you are in the area, I'd be happy to join and meet IRL Big Grin | :-D
