Well.
That's a first.
I replied to a "do it for me" question yesterday with a boilerplate "we don't do homework" and generally you hear nothing, or get abuse. What the heck, I can live with that.
But ... I just had a "thank you" from the OP, with a promise to try and do it himself in the future.
I've been here nearly twelve years, and that is the first time that has happened!

I wonder if he will come back and ask better...

I did that and got an email telling me not to be rude to people so I stopped answering questions

Good for the OP - heck, sometimes I've been in enough of a sh*t-panic/clusterfvck that I'd really struggle to get out a decent question myself, so sometimes I get it
.. I also have to remind myself that CodeProject != 'SO'

"Oh, interesting, cool."
"Do you have your computer nearby."
"yeah sure, just hold the line please." (Types code, time passes)
"Adam, are you there?"
"yeah sure, just a moment" (Keeps on coding, more time passes)
"Adam?"
"yes yeah sorry" (Keeps on coding, more time passes)
"Adam, can you hear me?"
"mmmmh yeah of course" (Keeps on coding, more time passes)
And repeat! I manage waste some 15 minutes of the elephanter's time. A new record! At least one old lady saved.

Excellent!
I play Words with Friends, and it's sad how people (when I actually have a free slot) ask to play a game with me, make a couple lame moves and start chatting and trying to get me to invest in bitcoin or binary trading. It's fun telling the latter that binary trading is illegal in almost every country, and then reporting and blocking them. Same with the bitcoin people, BTW.

My phones (POI Land lines) have a spam-call blocker in running (works pretty well). Of those that get through, if I don't see a caller I know then I don't answer.
I didn't realize, until now, what I have been missing !

Well done. I had a scammer tell me to f* off after I kept him on the line for about 20 minutes.

I know one "old lady" (my mother-in-law) who at 90 years of age while immobile & bored due to a hip operation managed to keep a scammer (who wanted to help her remove viruses from her computer) on the line for an hour and a half. She told them her computer was upstairs & it would take her a while to get up there to turn it on. She put them on hold. Eventually, they hung up & called her back & she said "Oh yes, I forgot where I was going. I'll try again." Ditto with variations two more times. Finally, she said, "I'm upstairs now & I just remembered I don't have a computer." The language at the other end was not too pleasant but she dined out on that story for several weeks!

Totally brilliant. And she, saved my day!

Never put a cross rating on the spot! (7)

Whatever, I'll take the bait.
Never put a cross rating on the spot! (7)
Never put = definition
on = juxtaposition indicator
a cross rating = AB
the spot = STAIN ABSTAIN
|
|
|
|
|
The answer is right, the solution is close:
Never put a cross
rating AB
on
the spot STAIN ABSTAIN
In paper-and-pencil based voting, you put "a cross in a box" to indicate your preference.

Rating = AB ? "Assez bien" ?

Never heard of AB as a rating before, but that makes sense! "Blood (type)" might have worked.

Okaaaay..
I was on another semantic field : On that very same page, rated is "x", which was reinforced by the "cross" in the clue. And I thought "on the spot" was the definition, so my solutions were not really kid sister friendly
