HR intelligence or artificial intelligence?
I know which one I'd trust more (and I know a lot about how incompetent AI is).

I had one of these log into this site with your webcam and go through our virtual interviews with one of the companies that actually build these systems.
It felt so... disconnected. I could not "read" the interviewer and I really didn't think much for this system. I requested a retraction of my interview and resume.
Fast forward a year or so. Went to a developers symposium and went to see a seminar on micro-services and how one local company implemented this architecture into their system. Low and behold it was my favorite video interview company, and they went through the painstaking process of how they were attempting to break up their blob of a system into something a little more streamlined. The way they were pitching the presentation had undertones of recruitment begging for someone to "help us".
What they had for a system gave me flashbacks of "DLL Hell", and the fresh programmers of today who just throw another framework into the mix. No wonder the thing is such a pig when you have half the NuGet packages known to man being fixed with half of the GIT repositories.
Yep, they have quite a job in front of them. Glad I did not join their team

Long, long ago, Microsoft quietly announced that it was going to remove the venerable mspaint.exe from Windows 10. The app was listed as deprecated, indicating intent to remove it in a future Windows 10 update, and the app itself was even updated to warn users that it was going to be removed from Windows in a future release. I'm a thief. But I didn't steal from you, I took it from somewhere else. But next time I cover for Kent I'm definitely coming in here and poaching to save me some time, and when I do I will be sure to comment, and bow, and thank you.
Thanks,

Kent poaches all the time, he just points the insider link directly to the user submitted post. IIRC he occasionally uses secret admin powers to cleanup the original post if it's got minor problems.

Is Leslie still around?

AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson today said that 5G will likely be priced similarly to wireline Internet, with customers paying more for faster speeds. Users "are willing to pay a premium" for 500Mbps or 1Gbps, AT&T CEO says. Speak for yourself, Stephenson.

So my question - why would they do this when it will obviously deter people from migrating to a 5G phone? I certainly don't need 5G, and I sure as hell wouldn't pay for "up to" 100+ mbps...

so that in 3 or 4 years when all their phones are 5G, and your existing phone needs replacement they've laid the groundwork for forcing you onto a more expensive plan.
"You can't activate that 5g capable phone on your old 4g contract. Your choices are to upgrade to the 5g-Really Gimped for an arm, 5g-Slightly Gimped for a leg, 5g-Meh for an arm and a leg, or 5-Ultimate for an arm, a leg, your first born, and your immortal soul.

Tesla lost $702 million in the first quarter of 2019, after posting back-to-back profits for the first time ever to finish out 2018, the company announced in an official filing Wednesday. And it doesn’t expect another profit until the third quarter of this year. A confidence builder!

Earlier this year, the Central Intelligence Agency informed its counterparts in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the UK that Chinese technology company Huawei has received funding from the Central National Security Commission of the Communist Party of China, the People’s Liberation Army, and a “third branch of the Chinese state intelligence network,” according to The Times. There's an awful lot of uncertainty in this article. Reader be warned!
