I have a windows form with a datagrid control. I bind the grid to my datasource and then add 2 unbound boolean columns. I create a tablestyle so that I can display these columns (Edit, Delete) in columns 0 and 1 before the bound columns. I can check the check box in the column and it branches to where I want it to go, but unless the row and column coordinates are (0,0) it does not display the check mark until I exit my other app and return to the grid. I displayed the value in the column and it is set to True.
I added the code from http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms996485.aspx to make the check box respond to one click.
How do I get it to show the mark prior to the DataGrid MouseUp Event? That's where I branch to my other app. I have turned off tristate.
I want the user to see the check mark when they first click the check box.
Thanks.

I'm amazed that you think that you can leave an interview, look for help from people and then go back and answer the question. The fact that you have posted this question here shows that you are not the right person for the job. Do you think that we should get in touch with this director and let him know?

You're right - I'm not qualified to give you the answer. I'm only a software professional with over 20 years experience and I've only been using .NET since the first beta. Oh yes, I also own a software company and do the hiring - so I definitely know nothing.

I need to display the file system entries if the user types a file path in a textbox. Is there any implementation for this purpose.
For an example try typing "C:\" in Start Menu -> Run dialogue.
I am using framework v 1.1

Hi,
These feature is implemented in .Net framework 2.0 but not in .Net 1.
Here a usefull link that contains some code to implement Autocomplete feature :

I'm using ms winforms reportviewer control in local mode.
I need to use expresion evaluator function in TextBox value expression.
This function should take expression as string parameter and return evaluated value using current scope, like
<Value>=MyClass.eval("Fields!"+ MyClass.MyFieldName()+ ".Value")
</Value>
Any idea how to implement MyDll.eval() function ?

I assume the list box contains a static list of items that never changes? If so, this would be (one) way to do it:
1. Create a new user setting 'MyListBoxIndex' of type Int.
2. Create a SelectedIndexChanged event handler for the listbox.
3. In the handler, store the current index using:
Properties.Settings.Default.MyListBoxIndex = myListBox.SelectedIndex;
4. After the Application.Run() exits, call Properties.Settings.Default.Save()
Whenever the form / control loads that has your listbox on it, retrieve the index from the user setting and select the corresponding index using myListBox.SelectedIndex = Properties.Settings.Default.MyListBoxIndex;
Hope this helps,
Roel

Hi,
To find duplicated records use the above code sample :
DataView v = myDataSet.Tables["YourTable"].DefaultView;
v.Sort = "YourPrimaryKey ASC";
Dictionary<int, list<int="">> duplicatedRecords = new Dictionary<int, list<int="">>();
for (int i = 0; i< v.Count -1; i++)
{
int j = i +1;
object iValue = v[i]["YourPrimaryKey "];
while (v[j]["YourPrimaryKey "] == iValue)
{
if (! duplicatedRecords.ContainsKey(i))
{
duplicatedRecords.Add(i, new List<int>());
}
duplicatedRecords[i].Add(j);
j++;
}
i = j;
}

hi friends
I have a query regarding vertical scroll bar. how to use vertical scroll bar(vscroll) with a label. that is when the contents in the label increases, a scroll bar should appear. I dont want a default scroll bar like in the rich text box control .... I want to work with the vscroll control.
thanks in advance

You need to write a control to do this. You would just use the MEasureString method on the graphics class to work out if your text is going to be oversize, show a scrollbar accordingly, and redraw the string offset by the scrollbar position when a scroll event occurs.

I am using a DataGridView as an EventLog viewer. At the moment I just bind it to a DataTable I get from my LogQuery class. However, one of the columns is EventType, an integer, but I would like to transform this to the descriptions corresponding to event types, such as Error, Information, Warning, etc. I can't change the query used by the LoqQuery to include a join, as the data provider doesn't support this. Short of iterating the DataTable result, changing one column from int to string, and doing the lookup there, I have to do the lookup transform in the grid.
I think a good start is switching off auto-creating columns and manually binding columns, then I can insert an extra column and do some slights of hand. This is the crux of my question: what can I do here? An expression column, handling a populating event and doing a lookup, iterating the grid and fixing everything once populated, etc.

Sorry about the cross post - the "Message Boards" drop down does not include this forun in it's list so I didn't see this forum until after I had already posted this question to the C# forum.
I am a C# programmer with mostly ASP.NET experience. I have done very little Win32 (WinForms) programming. Any suggestions for a good book on Windows Forms? I don't mean a general C# or .NET book, but one that specifically addresses the topic of Windows Forms.

Another great (advanced) book is: "Pro .Net 2.0 Windows Forms and Custom Controls in C#" by Matthew MacDonald (long title) But with over 1000 pages it definitely covers a lot of GOOD material related to windows forms.
Cheers!
