i am using vb.net.Its asp calender control that is inserting the date withit or it is the sql datatype that is storing it like that.If u can tell in detail how ca i ,i will b very greatful

Sorry, I don't know VB.NET quite well so I don't know if it's the control that inserts the data with the date and time or is the db that store the data in that way. You'd debug your code to know this item.

The SQL DateTime type always includes both date and time (wouldn't that seem obvious from its name?). How you choose to display that is up to you. See if the display format for the datagrid column can be changed.

While selecting from database itself convert it to date only format, then datagrid will show the same(Date Only)
select CONVERT(VARCHAR(10), DateTimeField, 103) AS DateOnly from tbl_Name

I don't think it's possible: the WHERE clause limits rows nor columns. So you'll have to list all the columns ... unless you want to use a bit of script/prequery that gets a list of all columns and then build a new query based on that.

There is no syntax support for this in SQL. You can select all (*) or a list.
if you want to exclude a column you will have to type the entire list.
You could create a view in the database the excludes that column, and select * from the view...
Or you could select * from the table and just not use/display the column you aren't interested in.

if you are using front end then limit the width size to zero. for that the columns you don't like to display.

Hello all,
I'm working on a webpage with access db using ADO.NET.
I made a web form that is causing me the glorious "Unspecified Error".
It happens when i refresh a page for 21 times (when the aspnet_wp process becomes too big to handle), what makes me believe that it may be a connection left unclose. Although i've checked all the connection and it seems pretty okay to me.
Do you know any way to view how many (and which ones if possible) connections are open?

Is it possible to use a dataview to return multiple rows using two keys for the column? The result set must be based on two condition in the sort function for example, dataview.Sort = "Col1, Col2".
Now, how do I use the FindRows function to use 2 keys or do I use a different function? Should I forget the idea of using a dataview and stick with a datatable?

Dear Ixhan,
You can do this by using rowfilter property or select method for table of dataview.
This way u will get a set of rows that can be stored in other rowset or bind to a datagrid.

My delete command is “DELETE FROM parentTable WHERE id = @id_Orig” for dataAdapter1 and “DELETE FROM childTable WHERE id = @id_Orig” for dataAdapter2(+ corresponding parameters). Then I call the parentRow.delete() command to delete the rows. Finally I call:
dataAdapter1->Update(parentTable);
dataAdapter2->Update(childTable);
This works if I only have ONE child row for that parent row. However, I get a System.Data.DBConcurrencyException if the parent row has multiple child rows. Why does this happen? Is this because adapter2 is trying to delete rows already deleted? If so how can I fix this? Thanks so much.

You can't do this. To use an SQL server database, you must install the server.
MDAC is just an interface client, in this case, it interfaces to SQL Server.

I am using sqlDataAdapter select command based on multiple tables to populate DataSet . I wanted to update only one table data by using UpdateCommand Property becauze sqlCommandBuilder is not supported for multiple base tables. plz help me to write Update Command. SelectCommand is as

im reading a book "Network Programming in .Net with C# and Visual Basic.Net" by Fiach Reid
im now in the chapter 3 "Working with the sockets"
and im trying to execute the program that's starting at the page 82
and i received an error.Then i put a breakpoint to see what's the problem
then i saw that the problem happened in the Sub "acceptHandler" and this is the snippet code :
