here's a command: net view
It will write to the standard output so i guess there will be no problem there
Or there is another method, using NetBios, for that try google:P
And it fades like the shadow in the night.

I am using .NET V 1.1, I have a wierd problem. I write some code, and that is reflected only when I close the solution, open it again, and then run it.
what is the problem?

Just downloaded the new .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack. It succeeded to install on all my Windows 2000 PCs and even on other Windows XP PCs.
Only my own development machine (Windows XP, SP 2) fails to install, bringing up a "TargetInvocationException " during installation.
Anyone noticed this behaviour and knows a workaround/fix?

I'm trying to run this application but i keep getting an error message saying that the .NET Framework is unable to load mscorwks.dll
I can't launch the application...this happened with the demo app i downloaded from http://www.codeproject.com/csharp/GlobalSystemHook.asp
and some other related apps.
Can anybody know how to solve this issue?
Thanks
P.S: I heard that this happens with unmanaged C++ applications...but the rest of the users seem to enjoy the same download while I can't...

Your installation of the .NET Framework is broken. mscorwks.dll is the Workstation version of the runtime - mscorlib.dll is pretty much just a loader that loads the appropriate version of the runtime. You should reinstall the Framework.

Hi guys,
I'm taking a class for which all my material must be written in C, not C++ or C#. Does anyone know if theres an expansion/download for visual studio that allows one to do this? I can get basic C to compile if i create a Visual C++ project > Win32 > Empty Project, and then rename a text file to the .c extension, but the DOS prompt won't wait on functions like scanf() that require user input. I really don't want to develop in vi on our campus Sun machines, so any input is much appreciated.
Thanks,
Justin

Justin,
I never got it to work right with just changing the file names, I use the command line options:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/vccore/html/_core_.2f.tc.2c_2f.tp.asp

You should be able to write "plain C" applications with VS.NET. Give your files a ".C" extension and it should work OK.

Hello,
Can anyobdy tell me an interesting application for a PocketPc, which can be downloaded for free? - the purpose of the application is not so important, it should only be an interesting application.
thanks in advance.

What do you find interesting?
I've produced an article here on Code Project about an application I made for the Pocket PC. Personally, I think it is very interesting.

Interesting in that way, that it is interesting to test the usability of
that PocketPc application (this application should be able to use from many
people)? does anybody know one? - and would be in best case free downloadable.
thx

I still don't think I understand what you mean. From my interpretation of what you are asking for things like Pocket Word and Pocket Excel would count. Both of those applications come with the Pocket PC itself.

Hi

Thanks in advance

For my machine, they reside in "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Managed DirectX\v9.02.2904"
Have you made sure that you've installed the latest DirectX Runtime to your machine ? By DX Runtime, I mean the DirectX installation package you can get from Microsoft that allows you to play DirectX games.

I had the same problem...I kept on having files missing no matter what I downloaded...so at the end I downloaded everything related to DirectX from microsoft's website... The SDK isn't enough...you need to download the redistributable runtime package which will install the missing files (Microsoft.DirectX.dll etc...) Also, you'll need to install the package on every machine you wish to run your application on...Cheers

OPC defines two main components(COM) registered in opcserver category : OpcServer & OpcGroup. I have written two coresponing classes as follows that implement the required Interfaces as defined by OPC.
[Guid( "926EFA52-C020-4259-B879-203512901EAF" )]
[ProgId("FAHM OPC Server 1")]
[ComVisible( true )]
public class OpcServer: IOPCServer, IOPCCommon, IOPCItemProperties, IOPCBrowseServerAddressSpace
{}
[Guid( "075A7104-076F-481f-8CCF-11BA9AE375EB" )]
[ProgId("FAHM OPC Group 1")]
[ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.None)]
public class OpcGroup: IOPCItemMgt, IOPCAsyncIO2, IOPCSyncIO, IOPCGroupStateMgt
{}
I can in a not managed programming language such as delphi or c++ create an instance of them and call all methods of both of them and QueryInterface them to all implemented Interfaces and see they are working by showing just a messagebox for test.
The problem is that the IOPCServer Interface defines a method AddGroup as follows that returns an instance of OPCGroup and has following signature in c++ and c#:
c++:
virtual HRESULT STDMETHODCALLTYPE AddGroup(
/* [string][in] */ LPCWSTR szName,
/* [in] */ BOOL bActive,
/* [in] */ DWORD dwRequestedUpdateRate,
/* [in] */ OPCHANDLE hClientGroup,
/* [in][unique] */ LONG __RPC_FAR *pTimeBias,
/* [in][unique] */ FLOAT __RPC_FAR *pPercentDeadband,
/* [in] */ DWORD dwLCID,
/* [out] */ OPCHANDLE __RPC_FAR *phServerGroup,
/* [out] */ DWORD __RPC_FAR *pRevisedUpdateRate,
/* [in] */ REFIID riid,
/* [iid_is][out] */ LPUNKNOWN __RPC_FAR *ppUnk) = 0;
c# :
void AddGroup(
[In, MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.LPWStr)] string szName,
[In, MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.Bool)] bool bActive,
[In] int dwRequestedUpdateRate,
[In] int hClientGroup,
[In] ref int pTimeBias,
[In] ref float pPercentDeadband,
[In] int dwLCID,
[Out] out int phServerGroup,
[Out] out int pRevisedUpdateRate,
[In] ref Guid riid,
[Out, MarshalAs(UnmanagedType.IUnknown)] out object ppUnk);
When in the unmanged code call this method of IOPCServer, it seems to be ok, but the returned object in ppUnk that supposed to be a IOPCItemMgt fails to execute any of its methods and raises an memory exception. I tried following implementation for OPCSerevr.AddGroup but all of them have the same wrong result:
impl. 1:
Type typeofGroup = Type.GetTypeFromProgID( "FAHM OPC Group 1" );
if( typeofGroup == null )
throw new Exception("OPC Server Not Found");
object grp = Activator.CreateInstance( typeofGroup );
IntPtr pRes = IntPtr.Zero;
IntPtr pUnk = Marshal.GetIUnknownForObject(obj);
Marshal.QueryInterface(pUnk, ref riid, out pRes);
Marshal.Release(pUnk);
Marshal.Release(pUnk);
if (!pRes.Equals(IntPtr.Zero))
ppUnk = pRes;
else
Marshal.ThrowExceptionForHR(HResult.E_NOINTERFACE);
impl. 2:
object grp = new OpcGroup();
ppUnk = IntPtr.Zero;
ppUnk = Marshal.GetComInterfaceForObject(grp, typeof(IOPCItemMgt));
impl. 3:
object grp = new OpcGroup();
ppUnk = grp;
impl. 4:
object grp = new OpcGroup();
ppUnk = (IOPCItemMgt)grp;
And for each of mentioned lines in above implementaions I surrounded it with a try-catch block and showed messageboxes after each successfull or failed block, and it seems that none of them fails, but I don't know why the returned IOPCItemMgt is incorrect. Can anyone help me?

Invoking "ipconfig /all" from the command line displays a lot of useful information about the network configuration, including IP addresses.
I'm trying to determine the IP addresses to the DNS servers from a C application but have so far only been able to extract the host/local IP address - by using the functions gethostname and gethostbyname.
Any ideas?
Thanks for your help,

I've got troubles to build a project (in debug mode): under VC++6.0 it works very well, but when I try to compile it on another PC with VC++.NET, I got some link issues: mfc libs were missing (msc42d.lib, mscn42D.lib....). When I finally got all that missing dlls, I had this message: "external unresolved: _iid_iactivescriptdebug" and "external unresolved: _iid_iactivescriptparse". Wich I suppose are defined in another (more recent) version of these dlls.
Anyway, does anybody have a clue to this pb.
Maybe I didn't install well the .NET software, but I reinstalled it with all the options I found, and it didn't help...
Please HELP..............
