I want to display the contents of an excel file into my windows form using visual c#. I tried using the binding source option from the the toolbox and creating a data set by giving the link to my excel sheet.
But i am not understanding, how to display the data in my windows form.

plz help me wid a code !!!!!

If you want to read the data without opening the file to an object, then I suggest using OleDb.

Not sure what it is you want, here are some facts:
- you can only read/write files in existing folders;
- you can create folders using Directory.CreateDirectory (there is no need to test existence first).
- some folders may be "write protected" or "access denied" (more so on Vista).
- there are some "preferred locations" for data files belonging to an app, for data files for a particular user, etc. Have a look at Environment.GetFolderPath(). Don't be surprised if the result depends on the Windows version ("Documents and Settings" on XP became "Users" on Vista).
I tend to use Environment.SpecialFolder.ApplicationData quite a lot.

However you created it, it still is a regular folder, it lives on your disk, and technically it has no relationship with your project or solution.
And it will not exist on another machine.

Directory.Create() creates a new folder in the given path as param. Application.StartupPath will give you the directory path of the current application. Application.ExecutablePath will give you the current application path.

i am using treelistview in my project,
TreeListView

I am unable to find a way to edit specific column on key press.
like
Pressing F2 enters edit mode or i will call beginEdit event.
i am calling beginEdit event and passing required paramiters, but it is not working.

plaese let me know how will i achinve this.

What if there's different numbers for the same letter, or not the same number of items for each letter ?

It's hard to know based on this question exactly what you want, or how best to display it. You need to provide more details. It's ultimately a SQL question, and we have SQL forums. A grid view will display your data exactly as it comes from the DB, the issue is not the gridview.

I'm not sure if you can. What you can do however is create a setting as a List<T> where T is a built in type or a class/struct of your own and add and remove to/from that list.

What you could do is create a new registry key
Name the new key "Your program settings".

RegistryKey ProgSettings = Registry.CurrentUser.OpenSubKey("Software,true);
ProgSettings.CreateSubKey("Your Program settings");
ProgSettings.Close();

Now you can add Sring Identifiers and values.
RegistryKey ProgSettings = Registry.CurrentUser.OpenSubKey("Software\\Your Program settings",true)
ProgSettings.SetValue("Setting Name",value) //store settings

string settings = ProgSettings.GetValue("Setting Name",false);// retreave settings

ProgSettings.DeleteValue("Setting Name",Setting Value);

Besure to close the registry key when you are done to avoid conflicts with other parts of your program that may write to the registry.

Many comercial software applications use these methods.
Code Project has many examples about Writing and reading to the registry.
This is much easyer the modifying the appconfig.xml file that is used when you create settings.
