Hi,
I am having some trouble debugging a windows service. i have attached a debugger to the service but after each change, do i have to rebuild my windows service, rebuild setup and uninstall and install the service. There must be an easy approach to this.
Please provide help

Solution explorer -> Right click on project -> Debug -> Choose any option

I have a datagridView in a winform and i display the results of a particular search. How do I highlight/bold only the charecters or the substring in the cell that matches my search.
(the best analogy would be the google finance, in which as you type ahead it bolds the characters that match the search)

I have a image button in a winform. On mouse hover i would like to change the image of the button. When the focus is lost i would like to show the original image .
I am handling the mouse_hover and mouse_leave events and changing the value of image property to the image i need. My images are stored in the resource file.
Is this the right way to do it?
Please let me know..

you can use a imageList and insert your images into it and on mouse events change button imageIndexes for example:

Hello,
i am assigned to work on a windows service developed by another programmer. I am having problems attaching to the windows service. the service was communicating with a remote server and for testing purposes, i want it to work on my local host.Whenever i get disconnected from LAN, it won't run probably because it can't make a connection to server, but i want to insert a breakpoint right at the beginning so whenever i find a connection to remote server, i change it. this didn't work,
so i thought of uninstalling the current service and installing a new instance of it with local host only, But i am having the following probs.///i don't know the exact path. solution (folder)has been pasted to another location

Exception occurred while initializing the installation:

i don't have it in controlpanel\add or remove programs...
i even tried the sc command, it didnt work. how do i delete this service.

I think if you use "service" control in cs you can solve your problem.

Hi the problem is nothing....
your marketordermanager.exe is not in the same path c:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\VC>
use this batch script
ECHO OFF
set DOTNETFX2=%SystemRoot%\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727
set PATH=%PATH%;%DOTNETFX2%
echo Uninstalling WindowsService...
echo ---------------------------------------------------
InstallUtil /u "%~dp0/marketordermanager.exe"

pause
just copy the code in a notepad and save it as a batch file. Then run the batch file from the same path where you have the exe...
It will solve your problem....

I'd say what system, but that would imply that I cared. No-one is going to write your code for you, you can go to the jobs part of the site and pay someone if that's what you want.

There are two ways of getting your prototype. Either you pay someone to write it, or here's a novel suggestion, YOU WRITE IT YOURSELF.

I think if you make a windows service and set's atatus to AUTOSTART, it's solve your problem.
if your means from System start is "boot", you can make you exe file and write it's address into autoexec.bat file to run it when your system boot.

Hi! I am putting together a key logger. So far it knows which window is selected, but how can I find the title of a selected control (for example a password field or a text box)?

Well, I want to know which is the selected control, where is the typed text going to.
Another thing that came up just now: Can I manipulate the key logger from my computer?
Lets say if I want to download the *.log file with the data, I just use a program rather than the data being sent to my mail.

We know what a key logger is. What we want to know is WHY you want to write one. There are very few legitimate reasons to use one, and the simple fact that you want to know whether you're keying into something like a password textbox tells me that you're not erring on the side of legality.

The problem is. Key Loggers are usually used for nefarious purposes. Unless I am satisfied that you are not intending this, I would not offer any help.
So once again, why?

The whole purpose is self satisfaction.
Me and my girlfriend used to play a word game on the net, but she always won. This irritated me, so I made a program to beat her.
Now's the same thing. When she types her password she hides it. One day I told her "Why hide it? I can see it whenever I want." (I knew the password but she started nagging and changed it). That's why I'm determined to make the key logger. (by the way she knows that I am working on it)
If I wanted to use it for some nefarious purpose, there is a wide choice of applications, why not download one.
