Hello everyone,
If my ASP.Net page returns both response Http headers and redirection to client's Http request, my question is when client follows the redirection instruction to access the redirection destination URL, will the client automatically include the response Http headers into the further Http request headers to follow-up redirection or not? Is it a standard to follow to include the previous Http response headers to redirection Http request headers by client or optional?
(my current confusion is I want client to redirect to some other URL and also include current Http response headers to the redirection URL request headers, but I am not sure whether all clients could follow this way.)
BTW: clients I mean browsers.

Install Fiddler and monitor the request. It can be downloaded here[^]
BTW, Cp has an ASP.NET forum and this question should belong there.

Actually I am already using Fiddler. My concern is I want to know whether it is standard or not. Since I can only test with my own environment with IE8, and I am not sure whether my web application could be compatible with other browser clients.
Any comments whether it is standard?

I have a form with a datagrid. In the server explorer pane, I dragged a stored procedure to the form. How do I make the stored procedure the datasource of the datagrid? Also, if that's possible to do, I would like to be able to select only a subset of the resulting columns from the stored procedure. Domo Arigato'

I've found it, one needs to add the storedproc to the dataset. once it's added, it will be available as one of the datagrid's datasource.

What type database, web, services.
If it is a database server then just change the connectionstring and use the IP rather than the server name!

I am brushing up on C# 3.5 and came across something odd to me. I know that deliberate fall throughs are legal in c/c++ but not in C#. C# however added a GoTo(case) to get around that.
I just noticed that when you use the GoTo method though, the condition for that case is not checked, it simply accepts it and process the code in that case. I tested this with strings and int's.
What I want to know, am I correct in saying that conditions are not checked when using the goto statement, and is this a new feature in 3.5. I never worked with C# outside of ASP so rarly if at all used switch.

Goto is an unconditional jump to a label so the switch condition is not evaluated, just the jump is executed.
If I remember correctly, goto keyword is defined in the earliest C# specification so it's not new in C# 3.0.
Although it makes jumping easy, I would try to avoid using goto statements since they make reading the code harder and more vulnerable to logic errors.

IMHO, if you have to use a Goto, you really need to rethink your logic. I haven't touched a Goto since I stopped using VB6, back in the .NET 1.0 Beta days.

Hmmmm IMO theres quite a few times where a simple "goto done" is much clearer/cleaner than a bunch of clumsy "if(done) break". Of course then its arguable that your data structures suck

I agree with Dave - if any of my devs use a Goto I'd have them put up for public ridicule and we'd have free beers for weeks. I have not used Goto for at least decade and have not even seen one recently.

With modern language complexity the triviality of examining programming state which uses the goto statement is overwhelmed by the more advanced concepts that we commonly use (eg: variable binding issues in closures). Just adding iterators and anonymous delegates means I see serious bugs based on this on a weekly basis.
Can you immediately pick the output of this trivial example?

I'd say that 95% of devs will get that wrong. Its a lot more insiduous than a goto (which I don't think I've ever seen anyone bugger up since BASIC days. Its not like we have setjmp/longjmps to really drive people nuts in C#

Actually I think the example I made was overly complex - I wasnt trying to demonstrate anything to do with threading issues, probably wouldve been served better without the ThreadPool and by just adding the delegates to a List and then .Invoking them one by one. The output in either case will be "10, 10, 10..." - "i" gets captured by the closure, not the "current-value-of-i". By the time they actually are executed, i == 10. Leads to some horrible state if you aren't careful.
Resharper, incidently, will pick up the as access to a modified closure and warn you, but the default compiler doesnt seem to care.
I see gotos as a tool, to be used when appropriately. Its pretty rare that there isn't a better statement for the job. "Restricted" gotos like break, continue and return cover most bases anyway. Its just that one time you need the goto and everyone suddenly reacts like you are doing something intimate with your workstation that gets to me...

can someone please help me i have to compare two datasets against each other but don't know where to start (can you please provide a code sample). i have two queries that select the details that are in the one database table and not in the other. i've linked them to two different datasets and datatables but from there i don't know what to do - something about comparing the column differences in each dataset.

You can't just do a "does DataSet1 = DataSet2", so your only option is to enumerate the tables in both datasets, and enumerate the records in both tables, then enumerate the fields in both records. Pretty much, a 3-level nested loop, to do the comparison, field by field.

How can I determine if a file is trusted, also and this is different from being trusted. How can i tell if a file is digitally signed. For example all dlls belonging to iexplore are trusted. However not all xp or vista dlls are trusted. All xp and vista dlls are digitally signed though.
Im familiar with all the dos utils out there that can do this, like sigfile and sigcheck etc...
So in C#, what classes would I need to determine the above.
Any help is appreciated.

The method contains two event to update a datagridview in the calling form
In debug mode it runs perfectly
In release it hangs randomly during the called process
It never reach the end

Hi,
I dont know in which forum i can post this, but here it goes.
I registered a service in a site (participate in a game), they asked for a username and a password (and other info).
So it happens that i submitted a password with "space" char like the following: "hi world".
So, the service accepted the password but now they say passwords with space char are not allowed!
So it seems to me that because the game is going to start 17th november and i cant change password now, it meens i cant login!
is there a way to enter? can i type something between hi and world that replicates the space key? what string did the computer stored?  this is my wild guess.
any other suggestion?!
