It's more efficient to check the length of the string than to compare strings:
if (a.Length > 0)
Also, you never need to create instances of empty stings. There is already one that you can use:

i have a web service and a web method .
this method doesnt return any thing and perform some task .but it consumes my time ( 1 minute )to do its job.How i can only call the method ( only send a message to do its job) to overcome this problem.

Hi all,
I'working on a windows form c# mdi application.
Sometimes (I can't reproduce the situation) I got a "The object is currently in use elsewhere".
All I can tell is that it always happens in front of a gui event (form closing, form resizing, form activation and so on...).
Does anyone know what the problem can be ?

Hi all!
I'm trying to load several image files into a form.
These files may overlap and can be moved by up, down, left and right button controls.
How can I achieve this? Do I have to use picture boxes? Can one picture box contain several images?

You can load your pictures into an array of type Image or BitMap and then assign the element of the array that contains the picture you want to display to the image property of the PictureBox. Loading the pictures into an array allows you to quickly change the picutures (without have to load each one from a file, all done when you load them into the array)
I think you could also use an ImageList (control), but I'm guessing and have not had much luck with it's implimentation. Last time I used it I have a problem with my pictures being reformatted and never looked into it.

Regarding PictureBoxes, if I want to load multiple images, I have to use one PictureBox for each correct?
Is PictureBox or using Graphics class a better way to approach this?

Use and array of picturebox. So no matter how many images you want to load you can extend the picturebox array accordingly.

Hi,
I have developed a Excel plugin using .NET 2003 two months ago. The plugin simply adds some buttons on the toolbar. Everything worked fine before. The plugin is installed by MSI. And now I open Excel again and the buttons disappear!
Then I uninstall the plugin and reinstall it with the MSI I build two months ago. And the buttons do not appear, too.
So, I open the plugin solution and decide to rebuild the MSI. When I open the solution, a error message "80004002" prompted and ask me for yes/no.
No matter I chose yes/no I can still enter the solution and rebuild the plugin MSI. The error message didn't prompt next time.
And the result is that the MSI successfully installed the plugin and I can see the buttons again.
What's happened? Will the same thing happen again after two months from now?

Hi
I want to know abt binding context and its functions.
I have two tables. one is the parent table and another is the child table.
I have read this tables to a dataset. and create a relation for a column say customer_id (which exissin both tables).
Then i have to add two datagrids and bind one datgrid to the parent table
and another datagrid to child table.
No wi have to implement the binding context
add abutton to the form, and inthe click event of that button increase the binding context by one.
then we can see taht according to the parent tables customer_id in the grid, it will show that id in the child table grid.
pls anyone help it to do.
can anyone give some sample code and explain to me in clearly how this works.

hi,
i want to create an ISAPI extension which would enable me send a page with an image to a browser. there would be options for the user to select a particular image give on a web page and when the user clicks the get button the image should be displayed. i found a sample project here on codeproject given by Jorge Lodos. but i am not able to display the images. i changed the location of the files as specified in the tutorial but only the text is being displayed. can anyone help. also in the html page supplied with the sample code contains a %s in the image src field. can anyone explain what is that. the html code is as follows.

I believe a HTTPContext class will do this for you. Certainly I know ASP.NET is itself an ISAPI extension, and one of the classes you can override allows you to do the same thing in C#.

connection, so that the server can have better response or performance ?

suspend until it finish the client request use Ayschronous server

Hi,
I just have a question on the IP right in MS office.
For the starOffice or openOffice by Sun, they have almost
the same functionalities, similar UI and usage processes that are matched with MS office so as to make it compatible with MS office. Then will this infringe the copyright or Intellectual properites of MS office ?
Or in other saying, can I build a MyWord application that is similar
or exact match the functions of MSWord, will I be sued by Microsoft ?

Are there any standards for designing form or form builder. I need
to write a form designer so that user can design and custom their own
form in the application ? It is fine to write it in c#, but I want to know
if I need to conform to some standards in the market, so to make my application more universal and better compatitibility ?
