DirectX is a COM based library so you should be able to use it with .NET and the interop layer.

I did hear that there will be a DirectX.NET edition coming out sometime too. Not sure when though.

I have tried to find out how to do frame grabbing (DirectShow ) from a webcam, but it seems to be a bit tricky. I can not find any useful hint somewhere

I create a default webservice in vs.net, when i press "run", it will invoke ie to open the asmx file, but the ie always wants me to download instead of open as a webservice!

The asmx file will return an XML document. If you open it with IE it will display the document. You have to use a Webservice client (object) to test it out.

Can you give me a example about it?
I input "http://localhost/webservice1/service1.asmx" in my ie address bar, but ie then let me to download the file instead of display the document you mentioned above.

I had that same problem, it was caused by me intalling IIS after the .NET framework. Do you even have IIS installed? If you do just try and reinstalling the .NET framework.

This is a serious and difficult question.
I am making an addin for visual studio .net ide. This add-in will (when done) allow one to dock a MSN Instant Messenger Conversation window into the ide.
I thought of two solution to the problem, but dont know how to do it:
1. Scan all windows when a msn instant messenger conversation window is found, get it somehow, and convert it into a vs.ide toolwindow (so you can dock it)
2. Create an addin for msn instant messenger, so you can right click on contact and choose "Start chat in visual studio". >> When someone does this, it should send a handle of the window to the visual studio addin. (I think this solution would be very nice, But have no clue how to send the handle over to the vs.ide addin)
Some of the Problems I face:
The vstudio addins are supposed to be com addins and also activex. So, I found a "host" addin made in managed c++. (Included with visual studio extensibility sample 'docking window', and also with vs addin "Resource editor" on this website)
ANY help would be very helpfull

I think we should support Sun and their Java initiative since is is basically free. java.sun.com
Microsoft seem to have sponsored this site so hard that there are no competing technologies available...

Java is free - and worth every penny. As has been pointed out, the .NET framework and the compiler are also free.

that is why sun is going under. I wonder why anyone continues to invest in those companies(open sourcer). They forget that they're profit oriented and not communist organizations(but they certainly act like they are).

Well, I guess at the moment it is mostly free. But at any time they could do to Java just want they did to Star Office. Sun is not about doing good for the development community, they are about making money and destroying Microsoft. That is their only two goals. I figure Microsoft is the same way, but more than trying to destroy others, they just release products that are better! Remember, this is only .NET version 1.0 
Star Office is the prime example, once they realized they could not kill Microsoft Office with it, they changed and are now charging for the product. One day it is free, the next you have to pay for it.
Imagine if Microsoft was not around (or even not quite as strong), they could throw all Java development under licensing restrictions where you would have to pay royalties just like Unisys and GIF. That is the type of company Sun is and has been. That does not mean I don't one the Sun's of the world hanging around keeping Microsoft in shape, if it where not for competition, we would never have any advancement from Microsoft.
Microsoft is the largest software company on the face of the earth and they have invested everything into .NET because they know it will take over just like Windows did. Just wait until Microsoft (or independent developers like the Mono Project) takes .NET multiplatform, which I believe will be in the near future.
You like Java, no problem, you can still program in a Java syntax language in .NET, that is one of the beauties of .NET, it can accommodate most language preferences. Sun has you in one box, Java, you have no choice, you are stuck with that syntax if you like it or not.

Now if only M$ start playing their cards right, and what i assume they are trying to do with the .NET framework in particular C#, is to provide an opposition for JAVA, is to release a free consumer IDE like Forte. The adoption of C# will be greatly increased All they need to do, is just strip Visual C#, into a scaledown version available for download only.
I can only hope and dream for that day.

Well, for building web apps they already have with WebMatrix Would be nice it if was for the full c# applications, but then who would be DevStudio
