Some questions:
1. Is this your first ever C# program ?
2. Is this your first ever database program ?
3. Is this your homework ?
As has been said, Access and SQL Server are two different things. SQL Server obviously canes Access, but if you're only doing something simple, Access has some benefits, some of which can be achieved with MSDE. For starters, if this is not homework, and if someone is actually going to use this code, do they have a licence for SQL Server ?

OK, well, a DataGrid provides out of the box Excel like editing for a data source, and with articles on this site you can add drop down lists that reference lists in your data. As has been said, Access and SQL Server are two very different beasts. If it's for a computing degree, I recommend using SQL Server, seeing as it is useful in the 'real world'. Apart from that, you'll need to be more specific. What does your database schema look like ? What information do you need to store in it ?

i have a problem some parts of the image of the form still on the screen after i close the form which affect the form under it

1.Are you using API function LockWIndowUpdate(hwd handle) any where in the code???
Please make sure that window should get unlocked, before closing the form.
2.If you are not using LockWindowUpdate , then as Mr. Nick has recommended, you should Invalidate the region behind the form.
I have had this problem due to LockWindowUpdate , that is why I added the point.
Hope this helps.

merci for reply
1- i don't call any api function in my code it is all C#
2- i know the solution of Invalidate but i think that the under form must be restore with out using invalidate to invalidate the region behind the form

I'm trying to creat a program that will scan a directory for all image files and add them to a list box. I have that all under control. However when I select 5 megapixel pictures which can be over 2 meg a piece the program will have extreme difficulties. I tried using it and selected 40 some 2 meg pictures to turn them into thumbnails by simply resizing them. However my PF usage went to over a gig! So what can I do to create a thumbnail of these pictures without a 1 gig PF usage?

When you are done with your Bitmap object, explicitly call Dispose() . Alternatively, when you create your Bitmap object, use the C# using syntax which will emit a try/finally block around your code and in the finally statement it will cast your Bitmap object to an IDisposable and call the Dispose() method for you. You can only use the using syntax when the object you create implements the IDisposable interface. The syntax would look as follows.
using(Bitmap b = new Bitmap(16, 16))
{
}

This is the code:
public void foo(){
MessageBox.Show("Me");
}
public System.Collections.Hashtable methods_list = new Hashtable();
public System.Collections.Hashtable objects = new Hashtable();
private void Form1_Load(object sender, System.EventArgs e){
methods_list.Add("First",(new string[] {"foo","param","param"});
Button elem = new Button();
elem.Text = ((string[])(methods_list["First"]))[0];
elem.Location = new Point(10,10);
//
// elem.Click += new System.EventHandler(foo);
//
// ((string[])(methods_list["First"]))[0] ->>> "foo"
elem.Click += ?????? How to convert the methods_list["First"][0] to call the foo method ????
objects.Add("First", elem);
ablak.Controls.Add((Control)(objects["First"]));
}

It looks as if you are trying to dynamically call methods. I am giving a presentation tomorrow night at a .NET User Group meeting covering reflection, which is an example of how this can be done. Here is a quick example.
private string[] GetRoles()
{
MethodInfo mi = typeof(WindowsIdentity).GetMethod("GetRoles",
BindingFlags.Instance | BindingFlags.NonPublic);
string[] roles = (string[])mi.Invoke(WindowsIdentity.GetCurrent(),null);
return roles;
}
The MethodInfo class provides a method called Invoke which will allow you to dynamically call your methods. This should get you started.

I got some php page that put some value into session and I want to ask you if there is any way to get this value in C# win/web application? Or in otherwords could I view somehow what Internet pages put to my session during I'm viewing them?
Thanx.

The most practical means would be to persist the values from your PHP session to a database or XML file and then read the values back into a Hashtable within your C# application.

Hi!
What I would like to do is code a form that has semi-transparent image as background and rounded corners, also some controls on it.
I tried a sample, per-pixel alpha, i think, but it doesn't allow you to add any other controls to the form
I really need such sample code, quickly.
Thanks in advance

Hi there..
I have a question concerning the dotNet garbage collector. I have a Singleton class, whose static instance is available till i recompile it explicitly.
Example:
public class Test
{
private static Test instance;
private Test()
{
Dosomething();
}
// Returns the singleton instance of that class
public static Test Singleton()
{
if (instance == null)
instance = new Test();
return instance;
}
}
First time calling "Singleton()" everthing works fine (->Dosomething() will be called).
Then, i terminate the application and start it again, but "Singleton()" still returns the old "instance" object!
I have to recompile the class "Test" to remove the "instance" object.
Is this a known error? Or a feature?
Greetings,
Philip

I doubt that very much! Unless you have a client/(out-of-process) server scenario, you will have to restart the appdomain of the server. And how do u know its the same instance?

maybe the problem only appears in debug mode.
when the singleton-object is constructed, i parse a xml-file and store it's data in a structure.
after the restart, the constructor will _not_ be called, because "instance" has a valid reference in the first call of "singleton".
consequence: if i change the xml-file without recompiling my singleton class, the old data is still in the datastructure.

what exactly do you mean be recompile?

make a change in the singleton class and press shift+ctrl+b or F5 or compile the class or compile the project or compile the solution ...
what do you think i mean by recompile?
try it out or just forget it. it's no real problem for me - only interest.
greetings,
phil

Which is exactly why you would want to decouple the load process of the XML file from only within the singleton constructor. You will want a way of updating the current data structure regardless of your class constructor.
