Hi,
I have a little socket problem. I'm writing a little Client/Server application. The server listens on a TCP port, using asynchronous methods (Callback methods). The client uses synchronous methods.
On both sides, I use a 1024 bytes buffer (byte[1024]) to get the data.
On the way Client -> Server, sending 1 Mbyte of data takes 11 seconds, whereas on the way Server -> Client, the same data transfer is almost instantaneous ! Knowing that both applications are running on the same machine, and the client calls the server "localhost". I also did the test on two separate machines using 100Mb ethernet, for the same result. Also, all is compiled in Release mode, as in Debug mode it took much longer !!!
Has anyone an idea for this performance issue ?
Thanks by advance !

Sorry, the time was lost in an underlying method ... The problem wasn't one !
Thanks !

Hi
I am a novice in c# (I am a Java programmer) but I have to make a dll in c# and before I begin, I have a question.
Will the dll I make run on winXP/2000 without any additional installations?

No, you will need the .NET framework which is not on those OS' by default. (same as Java needing the JVM)

Thanks that was what I thought. But is it not include in Service packs?

.NET 1.1 is part of SP2 full installation, AFAIK

I have some trouble with my MDI-Window. The Child forms get UNDER the surface.. Take a look here:
http://basbroekman.nl/Img/Members/Media/IDEMdev.JPG[^]
I want the forms to autoscale with the maximal ground they get.. and don't go over other forms and so on.
The fact that forms can be scaled, is the only reason that I made a MDI-window. I am out of ideas, if nobody know a answer, than I going to make a sizeble panel.
Keep breathing, foks!

Hi all,
I am creating a windows application on 17'monitor with 1280 X 1024 as the resolution
now when i execute the same application on different machine the size of the forms
differ.
How can i create forms that will take the screen size dynamically and all the controls on
that form should be resized to be displayed in the same manner and location where
i had created them.
Thanks,
Pramod

You can do it.
When application starts, you must get the resolution and recount all form sizes.
Resizing controls is more simple - use Anchor property.

if any body tell me the core idea then its very thankfull
question is
why c# not support multiple inheritance with class
Thanks in adv

It's against the idea of OO programming.
Coulda, woulda, shoulda doesn't matter if you don't.

But C++ is doing it all well

consider a situation where classA which has a function f()
classB and classC are childs of classA. hence they both have the same copy of f().
now consider classD inherits both classB and classC (multiple inheritance) in which case there will be a ambiguity as to which copy of f() is called since both of them have the same.
inorder to avoid this complexity c# provides a multiple inheritance of interfaces and not classes since u give the definitions of the functions in the class which implements them

Well, there aren't that many languages that support complete OO design. Even Java and C# aren't completely OO although they're called OO languages, as is C++.
C# is just more OO then C++.
Maybe it's clearer in other words:
In C++ we have more ways for no OO design. (eg. multiple inheritance, ...)
Coulda, woulda, shoulda doesn't matter if you don't.

In addition to the replies you already got, the clean way is supported by C#: your class can implement several interfaces.

Not really, no. At least not in any automated way. The languages are totally different, C# is closer to Java than it is to C++.
