For someone who is a doctor and a senior member of the IEEE I would have thought you would have the ability to pose a question and give sufficient detail that we can help with your problem.

Real doctors have unclear handwriting. It stands to reason that nature is compensating for this person's use of the keyboard by gifting them with unclear thinking.

Hi everyone,
I am facing the following problem while working on my app:
I need to display large amount of data in a newly opened dialog window.
The dialog contains nothing but single dataGridView and Close button.
It takes about 10 seconds to load the data from the database so I decided to use BackgroundWorker to fill the table adapter. Unfortunately, the contents of my DataGridView is not properly refreshed (there are no rows displayed in the grid;
They appear if user for instance clicks on the column header, etc.)
The following is a part of my source code:
private void FormB_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
backgroundWorkerDataLoader.RunWorkerAsync();
}
private void backgroundWorkerDataLoader_DoWork(object sender, DoWorkEventArgs e)
{
...
RefreshNotScannedObjectList();
...
}
private void RefreshNotScannedObjectList()
{
// suspends DGV's layout
InvokeMyDelegate(this.mySuspendDGVLayoutDelegate, null);
try
{
this.JKTableAdapter.FillByLocCode(
this.dataSetBS.JKDATA,
this.locationCode);
}
catch (System.Exception ex)
{
...
}
// resumed DGV's layout
InvokeMyDelegate(this.myResumeDGVLayoutDelegate, null);
}
I also tried to move resuming the DGV's layout to backgroundWorkerDataLoader_RunWorkerCompleted() but it didn't helped at all.
I would appreciate any help or hints.
Best regards
Robert

try filling one instance of dataset in background worker and then in background worker's completed event set the filled dataset to the dataset that is rowsource for the datagridview through binding source..
bindingSource.DataSource = dataSetB;
dataGridView.DataSource = bindingSource;
---------------
bw.doWork {... fill dataSetA ... }
---------------
bw.completed {
...
dataSetB = dataSetA;
bindingSource.DataSource = dataSetB;
...
}

I need help with a program I am trying to do. It is asking to use a TextActor and make a digital clock that inherits from a regular clock. it has hours, minutes, seconds and states whether it is Am or PM. For some reason, my program will not build. Is there any way someone can help me figure out what I did wrong?

Standard question #2:
What error message do you get?

it is not showing an error sign, it builds but when it builds nothing is in the world

But that is not what you said. You stated in your original post that the program would not build.
You have been far too vague here. What is TextActor? What exactly are you trying to do here? It sounds like this is a game engine that you are working with, but which one?

I wonder if your project does build again, will there be nothing in the world (again)...?

Members might be able to help you, if you post the error that you are getting, during solution building.
If you ask vague questions like "i have program that doesnt work, help me fix it ", how are the members supposed to know whats causing the program?

One presumes the OP is causing the program... And the problem.

Hi,
When i create a new form i set its MdiParent value to the main programs form. The problem is when im creating a form from with in that child.
eg main program - form1 - form created from form1
When creating the form, i do:
form obj = new form();
obj.MdiParent = this;
When creating the form from form1, i do:
form obj1 = new form();
obj1.MdiParent = Globals.MainForm;
Globals.MainForm is a static class which ref's the instance of main programs form.
The problem im having is that when clicking away from the form created within form1 - eg: obj1 - i cant un focus the form and go to form1.
Any ideas what could be causing this?
Regards,
Gareth.

Hello,
i came across this interesting article - http://www.codeproject.com/cs/miscctrl/SyntaxHighlighting.asp[^]
The article provides it's own rtb, control, so i was wondering, how do you replace my own rtb controls with the one provided in this article?
I already have a richtextbox on my form which i'd like to keep (because i build my application around that rtb), whilst using the controls provided by this article (for the syntax highlighting feature), how can i do this?
I am not asking for someone to write me a code or full detailed explaination, a quick instruction would be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance for your input.

assuming the replacement kept the same interface as the stock RTB, add the new control into your project's references, add it into the forms includes. replace the type and instantiation of the old RTB with those of the new control. IF the events and properties were changed you'll have to modify your existing code to work with the new interface.

CleaKO The sad part about this instance is that none of the users ever said anything [about the problem].

Im not good at C# at all, so i'll try to explain this as clear as possible (from my point of view).
On the sample app provided in the article, it has a form without any rtb in it. BUT, the form us linked to an action form1_Load();
So, i had a look in there and this is the code i saw:
SyntaxHighlightingTextBox shtb = new SyntaxHighlightingTextBox();
shtb.Location = new Point(0,0);
shtb.Dock = DockStyle.Fill;
shtb.Seperators.Add(' ');
shtb.Seperators.Add('\r');
shtb.Seperators.Add('\n');
shtb.Seperators.Add(',');
shtb.Seperators.Add('.');
shtb.Seperators.Add('-');
shtb.Seperators.Add('+');
//shtb.Seperators.Add('*');
//shtb.Seperators.Add('/');
Controls.Add(shtb);
shtb.WordWrap = false;
shtb.ScrollBars = RichTextBoxScrollBars.Both;// & RichTextBoxScrollBars.ForcedVertical;
shtb.FilterAutoComplete = false;
shtb.HighlightDescriptors.Add(new HighlightDescriptor("Hello", Color.Red, null, DescriptorType.Word, DescriptorRecognition.WholeWord, true));
As you can see, the class inside the syntax highlighting textbox library is called to make a new instance called "shtb" and then only after, words to highlight such as "hello" is added to it.
My question orginally was, is it possible to have the ability to highlight text inside rtb (as i type), without creating a new instance such as "shtb", because i already have a rtb on my form. I just want to add the syntax highlighting functionality to the existing rtb box i have.
Did i confuse you guys with what i am trying to achieve? Is this even possible?...

can anyone out there help me out on this please..?

Spend some time to read the code from the article, learn how it works, then decide for yourself whether or not what you want is possible.

i have a Panel with autoscroll = true and some UserControls placed on it on runtime..
the usercontrols when added to the panel are given an OnMouseEnter event in which the some property is set to a proper value:
<br />
public TreeItem ActiveItem {<br />
get { return _activeItem; }<br />
set { <br />
_activeItem = value; <br />
<br />
if(_activeItem.ItemType == ItemType.Person)<br />
lbTreeItemType.Text = "Person:";
else if(_activeItem.ItemType == ItemType.Relation) <br />
lbTreeItemType.Text = "Relation:";<br />
}<br />
}<br />
the strangeness occures when the lbTreeItemType.Text is set.
the panel scrollbars' values are set to 0...
anybody knows why changing some property on a toolstrip resets panel's scrollbars?!..
life is study!!!

k. i switched from toolstrip to menustrip.. and the strange behaviour stopped..
so my only guess is that there is some bug in DockContent from WeifenLuo.WinFormsUI.Docking.dll which I'm using to host these controls..

I'm using an object created from a class that I've called Interval. The class consists of two private members (min and max) of type double and get/set (Min, Max) for each private member. When Min is set it is compared with Max to ensure that Min is less than or equal to Max. This comparison is working at run time but not at design time. At design time the value of Max is the same as I set as default value in the class (private double max = 0) and not the value that is set in the property window in the designer.
I hope someone could help me with this problem.
Thanks in advance
/Anders
