Ive started a project recently where ive been doing fairly well until i came across an issue, and is bugging me like mad.

Ive got a main form(will call it Form1)
Form1 has 2 User Control forms in it (will call Uform1 and Uform2)

Uform1 is a menu and Ufrom2 contains a DataGridview will dataset, table adapter.

Now im really new to winforms, but I did it this was because if I created lots of static forms
and the menu was statically set when ever I make a change to the menu I would have to change it on every menu on every form.
(If I should be doing this a better way please say so)

So the isssue, Ufrom1 needs to be able to access the data/controls on Uform2, I need to be able from Uform1 to update Uform2 tableadapter/controls.

I have no idea how to do this, ive seen some stuff but it looks so complicated yet this should be a everyday programmers task and should be straight forward??

Im looking for a a guide and example..please help.

I don't know whether I understood your problem correctly, How about creating a public method in uform2 which is accessible from uform1 and does the data adapter updation ?

There's articles here on CP on communication between forms. The short answer is, use delegates.

No offense, but this sounds like its a bit of mess architecturally. I would recommend that you take a look at implementing a pattern like the Model View Controller or Model View Presenter, which allows you to abstract the model (data) from the view.

Whenever i run my application i want copy the address bar contents that are appears in the address bar into a string variable.

Is there any way to accessing the contents of Addressbar into a string variable.?

Are you talking about ASP.NET? If it's in ASP.NET, try this Request.Url;

timers, list boxes and Checked List boxes

I was trying to add a timer to a checked list box and all I get is a check box without any text. I also tried creating a derived class and overriding the ToString function with no help. Anyone have any ideas?
It works fine with the TimeSpan struct, but not the Timer class.

I want to use the List box collection to keep track of all the timers I intend to create, having the user enable and disable them with the check boxes. Is there a better way to do this? And does anyone know why this isn't working? I thought that the list box and friends just used ToString for the display values.

The ListBox will only use the ToString method if FormattingEnabled[^] is set to false. By default (when controls are added to a Form), this property is set to true.

When this is true, then the ListBox uses a TypeConverter to convert from the Timer to a String, for which there is none.

Add a menu strip control and then add it to the form properties.
Using the GUI editor to do this I find the easiest way.

#1. What about SendMessage? I have done sending message from one UI to another but I'm not sure about process.. you may do some research on it..

#2. What about passing things via middle layers? For example, save the string in textfile or database. then access that string from VB6.

Am doing a Web application. I want to copy a file from server to localdisk in web application. how is it done? is CopyTo(); is ok?
what is the format of this?
when i tried this am getting following error....

You can't copy files from server to local machine. You can redirect page to the file which needs to be stored, browser will open a save dialog and user can save it.

hi,
i am doing a project in which i have added a folder named data and a mdb file
in it so at the time of running the folder data is getting copied to debug folder and the manipulation done on the database are getting reflected in the debugs database not in the oringinal one and at the time of retrieval the data is coming from the original one
The project is working fine after deployment
so please solve this problem......

I include some merge modules in my VS.NET setup project 2005. I want to know answers of the following ....

1. What is the default location of merge modules...?
2. Did any previous file is over write by the installer while installing this application...?
3. If we remove the application the merge modules are remove automatically or we have to remove them...?
4. If any other application using that merge modules that what will the case...?

There are a lot of modules in my project. When the user runs the project, ShellForm will be displayed. There is one menu in that ShellForm. If the user clicks on that menu, 10 modules will be loaded dynamically. (so, it took a lit bit time to load all modules and UI freezes while loading. )

How to show the prograssbar while the modules is loading on demand?? OR How to load the modules dynamically without freezing the UI?

I have tried to load the modules in Asynchronous Mode but I got cross-thread error.. Frown | :(

I understand that I need to set the tabIndex of individual Controls but dont quite figure out in which order they need to be set. Do I need to change the TabIndex of Panels or Individual Controls or both.

I have a problem, how to implement the localization for the crystal reports in C#, there is no resource file about it, and i can not find the download link which mention in the msdn,it make me spend much time on it Frown | :(

resolution issue

hi all

i have created an application using 1.1 in c#.

probelm is that on the 1024,768 resolution and on win/xp it runs properly , but
on the same resolution on win/2000 it does not show full form. why is that ?

any solution, is win/xp 1024,768 is different from win/2000 1024/768 :P
