I'll give you the benifit of the doubt and assume your not up to anything nasty!
As a service it's pretty much impossible for reasons described here[^].
If your application has a legitimate purpose, then your end user won't object to a program running from the tray at least, in which case this[^] and this[^] may be of use.

Whenever I want to read a file, I always use:
byte[] stream = File.ReadAllBytes(path);
It worked fine for me in my past projects but now, I am reading files that are 200mb in size and File.ReadAllBytes won't present the progress of the file reading.
Thru googling, I found out that I can use BinaryReader to read files. But I don't know how to read it using the "OLD APPROACH" like using a loop and read the file chunk by chunk so I can compute for the progress.
So basically, my question is, how to use BinaryReader to read files using a a loop.

Its simple, you have a buffer of size N and you try to read N bytes from your file into this little buffer. The Stream.Read(...) method returns and int representing the number of bytes actualy read, so you then use this int to write the correct number of bytes from your buffer to your BinaryStream or whatever your using. You then keep copying bytes until you reach the end. It should look something like this:
FileStream fs = new FileStream(...);
BinaryStream bs = new BinaryStream();
byte[] buffer = new byte[1024];
int read = 0;
while(bs.Position < fs.Length)
{
read = fs.Read(buffer, 0, 1024);
bs.Write(buffer, 0, read);
}
fs.Close();

I have an application that I setup by adding a DataSet .xsd file to my project and then dragging tables from the Server Explorer data connections area. This automatically sets up the connection string in about a dozen places. Now I want the user to be able to point to the database they want to use, but I'm not sure where the connection needs to be updated.
The connection string exist in the main solution's
Properties\Settings.settings,<br />
Properties\Settings.designer.cs
In the data access layer project's
app.config<br />
Properties\Settings.settings,<br />
Properties\Settings.designer.cs
How would i update this value? From where (and how) should i read it when the app starts up, or if its being updated programatically would i have to save it to a custom file and read if from there?

Seems like the product was against an older version of Windows that uses a different signature for LoadBitmap. Imho, the best you can do is contact the vendor and give them your OS details.

I am developing a ASP application and have created a custom grid that sorts and has paging. Now, I have found that LINQ is great for doing grid searches and other action on existing generic lists that are bound to that grid. The question I have is that because web pages are non presistance and my generic lists have to be recreated from either cache or a new query, how can I use LINQ for doing things in my business layer Manager classes (i.e. ProductsManager)? I just want to get some ideas for its use when developing my business layer.

See, I have used LINQ in the presentation layer for manupulating data when a sort, search, filtering is done. This makes sense because I am binding and rebinding to controls (Grids, ListBoxes, etc.) and the same data is being used. The generic list are non-persistant and in the business layer I use things like a static ProductManager class to call the ADO object, or cache, and return Product objects. Now, because my data in the business layer, Results from cache, new queries etc. are specific to the generic lists and query, how is LINQ useful there. I don't want someone to write me a book, I just want some ideas.

If you have used LINQ in one piece of code then I still don't see what the problem is in using it in another. If you are asking more of a theoretical or design/architecture question, then I can't answer how you can use in your business layer, I don't know what it is.

As most of my programming experience is from FORTRAN times, I want to apologize for this perhaps trivial question. 
I'm writing a Windows appplication with its own namespace (DD4e). In the main form (MSCMain) I create an public ArrayList (myList). This arraylist is populated by instances from a specific class (MStat).
I want a sub-form for entering new instances of class MStat and appending the new instances to myList.
My problem is that after generating a new instance of MStat in the click-event of the OK button in my sub-form, I cannot reference myList from there to append it to.
Searching the class view yields DD4e.MSCMain.myList as I had expected.
So my question is: what is wrong with my approach or what may I be missing?
As I mentioned at the beginning of my post, object-oriented programming with a cool IDE is quite new for me, so please don't assume too much knowledge on my side.
