you don't want to show it encrypted, just don't show it at all, either by writing your own column definitions, or by not requesting it from the data source.
You don't encrypt passwords in your data source ?

Hi Christian, I understand what you are saying. I am not encrypting the database rather
when it display on the datagridview I don't want the admin to see other password but he/she
should be able to change it without knowing what it was.it can be as MasktextBox like " *******".
thanks

You should have a function that encrypt a user password. There are many password encryption algorithm. However you take that encrypted password string and stored in the database. This way anyone who would have access to the database or if somehow manged to the password all the would see is a long encrypted string.
If you want to update the password field then just update the password field with the new encrypted password and you are all set.

You really do not want to change passwords in a DataGridView environment. Since you shouldn't be showing what the new password is, you need to have the user type the passwrod twice to confirm it was typed correctly. You don't have that option in a DGV unless you write a custom editor for that field (NOT easy!). A better method would be to open a seperate form for that record and asking for the new password twice.

What you could do (don't ask me how, I just know that we are using it in our project) is, if you're using SQL 2005, encrypt the column which contains your passwords, generate the proper cert for that encryption to happen.
Then create an Updatable View which will only allow certain SQL users to see the actual values and when other users do a select on that view, it will appear as NULL to them. Also, if you have access, you can change the password values through the Updatable View (you'll have to since the column is not a string column anymore but a binary one).
You'll have to find out how to do it but it is definitely possible as we are using it.

created a program which has a "Load Picture" button, and a Picture Box .Whenever I click a "Load Picture" button, it will show a Open File Dialog then selected file will load to a picture box.
My question is How I can make the picture loads to my Picture Box when User right click on a image file ---> Open With --> browse for my program.
Like Photoshop, you know, when you rigt click a image file ---> Open With ---> Photoshop --> then Photoshop will open with that image file.
Thanks !

Looks like you answered half your question. For the other half, you need to associate your program with the file extension in the shell, and you need to accept a program path as a command argument when your program launches.

You mention ASP.NET, so do you really want the user to upload an image from their machine to your server?

hello.

The OpenFileDialog is for Windows Forms, not ASP.NET. You need to allow the user to upload a file from their computer to your server. Your server cannot read files on a client's machine.

I didn't realise that this question was unrelated to your other one. We have an ASP.NET forum.

Hi,
We have unix boxes which are built for some very specific functions. We do not have direct access to work it however; we telnet to this box, navigate through the appropriate menus and then invoke the commands. We currently connect to these machines from windows clients via command prompt (by typing telnet.exe).
Lately we've found a way to do the telnetting programmatically. We are currently trying to bust our heads at automating "exact" operations. Basically I've to read a stream of data off a socket and then write commands to that socket based on that information. Is there any design pattern tht caters to this requirement?
PS: both reading/writing at the socket level happens asynchronously...

it probably would be a lot easier doing all of it synchronously in a separate thread.

The problem I have is that there are multiple <activitydetail> items nested inside <activitydetails>...and I can't figure out a way to increment a counter just for you when there are multiple elements inside another...
Xml document can be found here: http://pastie.org/680240[^]
Current code can be seen here: http://pastie.org/680242[^]
TIA!

My client software gets an RLE encoded TCP message from a Server. I need to decode it so I can use the data.
So my question. Does C# already have an RLE decoder? Or will I need to write my own stuff? It does not look hard, but I will feel silly if Someone say there is an extension that handles the work.
Thanks
PS They say its PackBits style

They(Senior Developers at where I work) say its a "Traditional" form. They check to see if the previous character matches the current. If less than one or two they will attempt a sequence. If a sequence is found, they will write out the length and the sequence. If not the character and run length is attached to the buffer.
PackBits they say

Ok I don't think .NET contains anything to deal with PackBits data..
Fortunately it isn't too hard to write a decompressor for
