I can't believe this sh*t!
I was workin on a C# form using VS.NET 2003. When I added a new button using the Form Designer I got this error message :-
Code generation for property 'Text' failed. Error was: 'There was an error loading app.config. Since the document being loaded uses Dynamic Properties, the config file must be valid. Correct the following error in app.config:<br />
<br />
The item 'app.config' does not exist in the project directory. It may have been moved, renamed or deleted.'<br />
VS.NET closed on its own and when I reopened the project I lost all my form control properties and now have a blank form.
Blast it!

Hi Nish,
One time I lost a custom control... I manage to type it in the resource file ( at least it was in xml not like with the old rc files), or in the part that is created... quite sh*tty...
But your crash... it's quite better than mine

Yeah, this happened to me too with VS.NET 2002 as well as VS.NET 2003. I am not aware of a fix for that.

I'm sorry that happened.
I make it a point to back up my forms before using design mode - partly because in previous releases of SharpDevelop that kind of trouble was commonplace (unlike w/ the v0.98 release). I've been glad I did it a number of times. It is a pain though.
Another hint is to do all your forms designer work w/o saving, then switch to source mode and ensure that everything works before saving.
Anyway, good luck and I hope you manage to re-construct your work.

Could You recommend me some Internet sites containing free download electronic books devoted to :
- .NET technology (C#, ASP, ADO, Wireless/Mobile, …) , MSSQL&XML
- application mathematics – numeral methods, artificial intelligence, …
- GPS & navigation systems
Thank You !

safari.oreilly.com is a online book program, you can browse books for free, but must pay a monthly fee for your "bookshelf". They have alot on .NET, but not much on mathematics, and nothing on GPS. Is there anything specific you need to know about GPS, I've done my share of research on the topic...

Hello, I was just wondering if any of you know how to make the buttons on a toolbar have pictures in them instead of text? I'm trying to make a paint like program and I thought I would make a toolbar in which the buttons have a picture of the drawing tool you can use ie. pencil.

Remoting. It's the only way since handles aren't valid across application boundaries.

Hi all,
I have an xml file with a structure similar to the following
<Main>
<Child id=somename>
<Grandchild>
</Grandchild>
...
...
<Grandchild>
</Grandchild>
</Child>
....
....
<Child id=somename>
<Grandchild>
</Grandchild>
...
...
<Grandchild>
</Grandchild>
</Child>
</Main>
I want to rearrange the <Child> elements programmatically. can i do this with something in System.Xml namespace. I am new in using xml files in C#.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

An XSL sheet will allow you to reorganise the sheet, so long as you can define the sort criteria easily. Otherwise, you could create a new document and shove them in in the order you want them.

thanks for the reply but I would like to do it programmatically. I will be given two node id's and i want to be able to exchange them, meaning interchange their position in the xml document.

Well, using XSL or creating a new document *would* be doing it programatically. How else would it be ?

Well, you can't. Sorry. The DOM does not allow for it, unless you pull them out and stuff them back in. That's what XSL is for, I just gave the other option in case you did not know XSL.

Is there a way for getting a command line options for C# compiler (csc.exe) from Visual Studio .NET 2002 project?
I need it to compile my project using .NET Framework 1.1 (since VS.NET 2002 doesn't support it and I don't have money for 2003 one).
It would be ok if my project has about 2-3 source files .. but it has about 80 source files and writing it down by hand is not very practical.
Thanx

I want to have the possibility to enter a math algebric expression (e.g. z=sin(x*y-1)+x/y-2*x) and values for the variables (e.g. x=2.1, y=0.2) during execution of my program in WINDOWS environment.
Is that possible?

I'm strating a CCW object on a server side. How can I get a full path to dll file in one of the CCW methods?
Thanks,
vital.

You mean, so that unmanaged code can get the path of the .NET control via it's CCW that the runtime created? One way is to have a COM-callable method (declared in your class interface) that returns it's own path (perhaps using this.GetType().Assembly.Location . Getting the path through native COM functions can be a bit tricky.

Hello.
Help, please.
I'm trying to call a CCW object from an asp file. I registered a CCW with regasm.exe and then installed with gacutil.exe.
So, in asp is written:
try
{
objCheck = Server.CreateObject(rstData.Fields("LibName").Value);
blnAllowed = (objCheck.Permissions() & 0x01 != 0);
}
catch(e)
{
%>
/*
// LibName: <%=rstData.Fields("LibName").Value%>
// ERROR: <%=e.description%>
*/
<%
blnAllowed = false;
}
And I get an error:
// LibName: OilMiningBalance.Rep_Struct
// ERROR: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
The name of CCW is correct, but then what's the matter with it?
