ok nice Environment.GetCommandLineArgs() works fine.

The Main() method of your c# application should have a string[] parameter. This array will hold all the values that are passed to the application

Hi all
I have a datagrid developed in 2005.I am populating datatable with recordset and assigning the datatable to the datasource of grid.The data contains one parent and its child..so when i click on parent automatically its child will also be selected.Now if sort the grid based on any columns my entire selection logic will fail that means datatable is not updated as i sort the datagrid and hence my logic fails.How can i over come it.When i was searching the net i found that use some default view of grid then go for it ,but i am not clear on it.Can any one help me on this

On a serious note, what exactly do you mean by best GUI? That is sort of in the eye of the beholder type of matter...

Why no google? It's a very valuable resource for finding things out.

Try live search, or perhaps webcrawler is still in business ?
Seriously, your question makes no sense, best GUI for what ?

Hi, does any body know how i can call internet explorer's "Save As" dialog to save whole web page?
I already tried to use "SHDocVw.InternetExplorer" and the webBrowser control of .NET but there's no function to save the html of a web page.
I also tried System.Runtime.InteropServices.UCOMIPersistFile persistFile = IE.Document;
persistFile.Save("C:\\test.html", true);
but it only saves the html code, but not the html code of the inline frames of the web page.

I just figure out, I can use WebBrowser.ShowSaveAsDialog().
But how to automize that? The user must not see the dialo when it pops up. the saving progress should happen in the background.

Hi
I've been looking around at seeing if I should write my own business object framework or use the well popularised CSLA (by Rockford Lhotka). The latter is very functional other than it does not support Pocket PC devices (or if you're a CSLA convert, pocket pc does not support it!).
I'm only really interested in basic undo functionality, ieditable, idataerror type stuff and some data abstraction.
I keep going around in circles over this subject and not getting very fair.
Is anyone aware of anything like CSLA but not CSLA?
At the moment I'm verging on writing my own, which I've already started, but the interface side of things and undo functionality are not there and with the unknown scope of writing this and making it solid is a concern compared to taking something off the shelf (which I don't mind paying for).
Thanks for your comments.

Glenn - take a look at some of the things that our very own Marc Clifton has done. He's documented a lot of this type of thing on this site.

Why not use a DateTimePicker?

Hello Assaf,
of course you need the DateTimePicker, and if you want a very flexible one, try Smart FieldPackEditor.Net.

Hi im having trouble in displaying the char '&'
well im trying to do a simple thing like:
Label l_name= new Label();
this.panel1.Controls.Add(l_name);
l_name.Text = "lol&lmao";
l_name.AutoSize = true;
l_name.Location = new Point(10,10);
instead of getting a label that says "lol&lmao" on my panel
i get "lollmao" , i was try to use escape charcter like this:
l_name.Text = "lol\&lmao";
and it didnt work cause the & charcter is not an escape char.
so im out of ideas , if anyone know the answer please share thanks :P

A quick question: What is default type (ByVal/ByRef) in C# and Vb.Net? And which is a good practice if passing values to different components when they are on same machine and as well as on different machines.....Thanks!!
Thanks.

Reference types ( classes ) are by reference, intrinsic types like int are by value.
It really doesn't matter, anything that's not a trivial size is byref no matter what you do. In C# you can use ref or out to force by reference, but you cannot force by value.
