Hi, Mark,
I have used C++ for some time but mainly focused on algorithm and only did a little on UI development. All I know is limited to the components provided by VC++, and I really have no idea how to develop those beatiful UI. Do I need special libraries or control components to realize the office2003 or outlook2003 style interfaces? The controls provided in VC++ is not good-looking at all.
Your advice will be greatly apprecaited!

Hi David,
I'm sure there are many 3rd-party libraries with really nice controls.
If you prefer to roll your own you can start with Windows common controls. Once you have the
basic logic working for those they can be extended to make them "pretty", including drawing all
or portions of the controls yourself (owner-drawn controls).
The controls provided in VC++ look ugly in their basic form but many have style and extended style
flags to add to the look and feel. Plus, many of the common controls (tree view, list control,
tool bars, for example) require you to provide icons, bitmaps, etc. at run time so they don't
look so nice in the designer views.
I've always wondered to what extent Microsoft uses their own common controls in their products
like Office and how much is custom controls.

I am trying to include a hyperlink in one of the dialog box. I did went thru some samples eg. http://www.codeproject.com/miscctrl/hyperlink.asp[^]
But my problem is that the hyperlink occurs as a part of another message of DDX_Text. Is there any way I can include the hyperlink in the existing DDX_Text instead of creating a separate DDX_Control for the same?

Do you really need to use DDX for a hyperlink control?
If you really need to dynamically change the text and the control doesn't support it then you
should be able to set the text some other way, via the control's interface (class).
EDIT: I may have misunderstood your question. The hyperlink control in the example (you posted
a link to) doesn't require a separate control object. Use CHyperLink instead of CStatic.

just replace CStatic with CHyperlink Control..

I have added MS TabStrip into my CFrameView "dialog" and now MFC refuses to create frame for this view. It works fine without the TabStrip.
I get error messages to that effect and MessageBox with "Command failed".
What do I have to do in CFrameView to make this work?

I write a program about recording a wav file.
I use the waveInOpen ...etc functions ....
and use mmioOpen......etc functions ...to save the wav file
The wav file is correct.
but how to set the time of recording time, If I want to record 2 mins , how could I do?
Can somebody help me?

A really simple way would be to use the samples-per-second of the audio you are recording.
Stop writing after (samples-per-second * 120 * bytes-per-sample) bytes have been written.
It's not "real time" but it's accurate for the audio stream.

Is there a "Back" feature in C++?
I often come across a structure reference or variable in a program. I put the cursor on it, hit F12, and jump to the definition of the structure. Then I want to go right back to where I came from. Any neat way to do this other than just navigate back?

First of all, I admit freely that I have little knowledge in internet technology.
I want to read in parts of a website using C++/MFC. Using CHttpFile.functions I'm already able to read the webpage into a file. BUT: The problem is, I have to type in my nickname and passwort to reach the data in my account on this website. Can somebody tell me what to do? Or give me a hint what book/article/tutorial to read?

Additional info:
I analysed the html-code the website returns and I think I found the piece of code that submits the data:

I guess that this calls a script on the server to have the subroutine "checkLogin()" executed. checkLogin() is a html-routine that is also available in the website's sourcecode; it reads the values from the edit boxes.
My problem is now: 1. how do I set the value of the edit box to my password and 2. how do I trigger that server-script from my C++ program?
P.S.: Since my question touches C++ as well as internet-programming I posted this question in the "Internet"-board too.

I know of a way to do this, but it is not C++. It is VB script.
