The first thing to do when you get such a crash is to start your debugger. You will get a lot of information (where the crash occurs exactly, what are the values of the variables and pointers, ...). It could be helpfull to see where it crashes exactly. You could also use the callstack to check in which of your functions the problem occurs.

Hi to everyone.
I search the internet for my problem but nothing.
I use CDatabase and CRecordset to connect to MySQL server, without any problem.
The problem is that i can't see greek characters (i see only '?') from my application.
The records in MySQL stored correctly in greek and the connection string which i use is:
mysql.OpenEx("DRIVER=MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver;SERVER=localhost;UID=root; PWD=123456;APP=Microsoft Data Access Components;WSID=localhost;DATABASE=mybase;CHARSET=greek;")
What is wrong?

Use BitBlt(...) in OnEraseBkgnd().
Somethings seem HARD to do, until we know how to do them.

Properly, is the name of the last three compilers, in that they all target .NET. If you really mean C++/CLI, that's an extension to C++ which uses the .NET framework.

I'm not sure what you mean. C++ is excellent for writing COM components, but the vast bulk of C++ code does not use COM. C++ is a standard language, why would it be tied to a Microsoft platform that is a lot younger than C++ is ?

I don't know what you mean by those terminologies.
C++ is a standards based language. It's very powerful, other languages like C# and VB.NET are easier
VC++ means any Microsoft C++ compiler
VC.NET means any of the last three Microsoft C++ compilers
C++/CLI is how VC.NET 2005 does C++ that works with .NET. To use this, you need to know C++ and also learn how to work with .NET in C++. Learning plain C++ is probably easier, but once you add .NET, a lot of stuff you may want to do becomes easier because of the libraries in .NET. so, learning C++/CLI is harder than learning vanilla C++. A lot of coding tasks will be easier in C++/CLI than C++, because you get a lot of stuff for free.

For the third time. C++ is NOT limited to COM. C++ is older than COM, C++ is a standard language and COM is a Microsoft platform.
Perhaps if, instead of asking these questions at random, over and over, you told us what you're trying to do, we could get to the bottom of this for you ?

No. C++ can do many other things in addition to COM.

C++ is the standard language.
VC++ is the Microsoft's implementation of the language (with several microsoft specifics).
VC++.NET is the IDE (development environment). it is also named as VC++2003. such IDE allow you to use the C++ language for 2 main targets : Native processor instructions (like Win32/MFC/ATL, etc...) and MSIL for .NET.
here, don't confuse .NET which represents the product and .NET which represents the framework. the .NET framework allow you to generate an intermediate language from the compilation (MSIL).

I seriously doubt that C++ will be limited to develop COM components only. It is too widely used to disapear just like that.
