What is the full error message? If you build it in debug mode you will even know the source lines. If JIT debuigging in enabled for VC++ then it will break in the debugger where you can see the problem

Hi!
I have a project in MFC.In this project i use connection to the Access database (ODBC) and in Windows95 i have a problemm. When i try to connect to database,I recieve the message that driver does not support this function.
i try to install DCOM95 for Windows95
and then Jet40Sp3_Comp for working with Microsoft Access
database (ODBC) from MFC.But during instalation i recieve the
message that Error creating process D:\Win95
\System\odbcconf.exe /e/f
D:\Win95\System\jetodbc.rsp Reason:The system can not find the
file specified.
Tell me,please,is it possible to connect to database with ODBC in Windows95,and if it is possible, what i must do,what drivers or files i must add?!
Thanks,Irina.

Yes it is possible. I would suggest you download and install the latest version of MDAC_TYP.EXE from www.microsoft.com/data/download
This has always worked for me.

Ok, here is what is going on.
I have a routine that is drawing to a temporary bitmap prior to the bitmap being Blt'ed to the printer. Under some user condition, I would like to print the image in monochrome to not waste color ink.
I tried making the destination bitmap monochrome, but that didn't work. (Or atleast I did something wrong. The printed image came out solid 50% gray.)
So, since I have access to my temporary bitmap and it is 32bits (woohoo), I decided to just manually monochrome it.
However, my question is...
Will a color printing raelize the image is monochrome and not both using the color print heads? Or is there a setting I can dynamically set on the DC to tell it MONO!!!

I know what you're thinking punk, you're thinking did he spell check this document? Well, to tell you the truth I kinda forgot myself in all this excitement. But being this here's CodeProject, the most powerful forums in the world and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question, Do I feel lucky? Well do ya punk?

If the bitmap contains nothing but black and white, why would the printer start using e.g. cyan or magenta?

If it's a one-bit-per-pixel bitmap it's quite obvious it's monochrome.
IIRC there are usually printer settings for color printers that let you set it to plain old B/W mode also, but that would probably involve twiddling with the DEVMODE struct, and in this case I see no real need for it, I just mentioned it in case you wanted to try it.

Many printers will blend to make black if it currently has the color cart in the printhead.

It isn't a true monochrome bitmap. I said in the message that making the temp bitmap monochrome didn't work properly so I ended up
adjust the colors of the 32bit bitmap to either RGB(0,0,0) or RGB(255,255,255).

OK, I didn't know that (and thanking my lucky star that my old inkjet dried so badly I had to dump it ).
Could this perhaps be the place to use the printer DEVCAPS, somehow using it to tell the printer to "switch to" B/W mode only? I guess it's pretty much up to the printer driver, but a (non-wasting-ink) test could be to print just one pixel e.g. yellow, and then try the API's available and print another pixel that is intended to be black, and see if it switches to the b/w-only head?
It isn't a true monochrome bitmap. I said in the message that making the temp bitmap monochrome didn't work properly...
That's really odd. My first reaction would be "yet another buggy printer driver" (unfortunately not so uncommon), but what do I know about ink printers and their lives.
But back to your original question: It would have to be a pretty dumb (or buggy) printer driver that didn't recognize your 1-bit image as monochrome. If your generated 1-bit bitmap was correct (have you tried to just blitting it to the screen to verify?) I'd say you have to file a bug re. the driver.

I totally agree. It would be stupid. The specific printer I am talking about was an HP from FIVE years ago. Maybe this isn't a problem anymore.
Will check into the DEVCAPS.

Is there a tutorial or anything on how to implement drag & drop for a tree list view? I think there were some about a tree list ctrl, do they work the same?

I'm trying to create an installer for a VC++ program in Visual Studio .Net.
I think that MS has done a nice job with this part of Visual Studio .Net because they've made many things very straight forward.
Its a snap to create a string value under a registry key with their system but from what i can tell you have to know what the value is when you create the installer. However, i want to set the value to whatever path the user has chosen DURING the install process. Is there a way to capture the path the user has chosen and then use it as the string value for my registry entry.
Thanks!

I often struggle to disable this STL warning and am again struggling with it. I have tried placing this in every logical place to prevent the numerous warnings for "identifier was truncated to '255' characters in the debug information".
#pragma warning( disable : 4786)

1. Type it in stdafx.h before including anything else
2. If the problem persists add
#include <iostream> to stdafx.h before anyother STL headers.

Thanks a bunch! Placing it before any other includes in stdafx.h worked.

I've recently had a problem with icons for running processes disappearing from the tray. One Cpian suggested that an error in Windows Explorer may have caused it to restart, and not all icons were restored. So I'm wondering, how would I test the tray once in a while from an app to see if my icon is still there? Any clues?

I try to modify icon first, with the same values as the icon was created. When it fails, I know, there is no icon in the tray, so I can add new one. Does it help?

That's a great idea! Once in a while change something on the icon, and when an error is returned, re-add it. Thanks!

You wouldn't know of any references to it using C++ would you? I've been searching MSDN all afternoon and all they offer is C# and VB junk. All the useful stuff is gone
