The best way to get help with such a problem is to list:
your operating system
memory size
Error message(s) << most important!
You could have a failing hard drive, bad memory module, or corrupted registry etc.

Hello,
I have created a MDI application using CFormView.
In MS Access, when a table is opened and then the user selects View - Design View from the menu, a window opens with the usual max/min buttons. On maximizing, the window docs itself with the main menu just like the default CFormView of my MDI application.
How do I do the same thing in my application.
Thanks.

MFC provides a few sync mechanisms
such as CMutex , CSemaphore .
As for Eg the CSemaphore has a Lock and Unlock mechanism .
Now I looked up the documentation for CSingleLock
It demonstrates a usage such as
CSemaphore sema
CSingleLock sLock ( &sema)
Now what is the difference between this as using sema.lock and sema.unlock
Engineering is the effort !

|
|
|
|
The semaphore is automatically unlocked when the sLock object is destroyed which typically happens when it falls out of scope.

Hi,
I have a simple GUI in which I want to implement a history feature of keywords that were typed in the CEdit box. How can I get a notification when the up or down arrow keys were preseed when the CEdit control is in focus ?
Thanks,

I'm using VS6 ( yeah I know, crappy STL support )
I have a crash when trying to sort a vector of pointers to structures using a custom sort functor; at some point in the sort, one of the 2 parameter of my comparision is invalid ( 0xcdcdcdcd ). This does not happen the first time I call the sort, but at the second time.
I check the values in my vector before calling the std::sort , and the pointers are all valid, as well as the data inside.
std::sort( vector.beginvector.end(), sort_by_type() );
and the comparision is something like :
class sort_by_type
{
public:
sort_by_type();
public:
bool operator() (const my_struct* p1, my_struct* p2 ) const
{
return IsSmaller( p1, p2 );
}
};
and with my all-mighty luck, this works on VS.net 2003, so I assume that it must be related to the crappy STL of VS6.
Any ideas ?
so, if there is not quick fix to std::sort, is there a way to have a new and better STL for VS6 ? I don't think all the rest of the developers want to switch to vs.net 2003; I'm the only one using it.
Thanks a bunch !!
Max.

First of all, have you downloaded the patch (or the upgrade from Dinkumware) for the VC6 STL issues? I don't think Microsoft still has the VC6 patches available, but you might be able to find them on www.dinkumware.com s site.
My guess is that is probably going 1 past the end of the array (that is, the sort's iterator check was implemented incorrectly).

dinkumware, that's what I was looking for.
is it "safe" to install ?
|
|
|

I used to use the SGI STL implimentation when I was stuck with VC6, but Dinkumware wrote the original VC6 STL, so their's is probably most likely to be 'safe'.

I tried the patches, rebuild, and got the same crashes.
but I think we'll all upgrade to vs.net 2003.

The bug is most probably in your code. Bugs in std::sort would have been detected so far.

Hi all,
I use the edit control EN_CHANGE event in order to update a slider in a software.
The edit control contains a number. My problem is that every time i write a digit in
the edit control this triggers the EN_CHANGE event, the slider is updated and the cursor
in the edit control is put at the beginning. I wanna the update of the slider
AFTER i enter the whole number in the edit control, not for every digit, but my
boss want me to do that without using a button to load the value entered in the edit control
into the slider. Is there another event i can use to obtain that ?
Thanx in advance,
Desmo16.

what is a whole number ?
I know what it is, but what is the difference between 23 and 234 if both values are valid ?
you could handle the kill focus event to only update the slider when the focus change, or handle the enter key and update the slider when the user hit the enter/return key.
|
|
|
|
|
When i say "whole number" i mean "not a single digit",
that is to say 345 or 765 and not 1 or 5 or 9.
And no, not all values are valid 'cause they had a geophysical meaning in the software.
Anyway, how can i trigger the event handling the enter key ?
Thanx in advance,
Desmo16.

Your use of 'whole number' makes no sense. I presume you mean a number that's been completely entered.
There is no event that's fired only when the text is a certain length, you'd have to check that yourself in the EN_CHANGE event, and update the slider only when it's within the range you're hoping for.

Hi the same thing will happend when u use EN_CHANGE.Without using any button down then you can do in one way . but there u need to tell application to do something after a perticular size of data is entered.
eex. data will update when u typed perticular number of characters in it.
