This can be done any number of ways. Do you need security? Can you use an existing file transfer method, like FTP?

You can use Remoting. You can write your own socket-based client/server over TCP/IP, a web service would work. There's a bunch of different methods. For examples, all you have to do is Google for something like "VB.NET ftp send file".

Well Dear,
I didn't get your question but tried to give your answer!!!!
VB6 is object Based Progamming
VB.Net is fully object oriented programming, its a .Net Language which uses Vb code for programming.

VB.Net 2005 is again the same thing but with more Classes. More than 5000 classes.Its a advanced version. or you can say new version!!!!!!

Google has loads of tutorials for beginners if you search.

Once you are up and writing programs and become stuck you can use google again, www.msdn.com, here and many other places but you wont get much help with generice questions like that.

They need to be specific such as I need a function that performs x operation....

Have you considered using .NET instead as VB6 is a bit antiquated although still powerful.

Have a look on amazon for some beginners books.

VB6 is a dead language, it's been unsupported for quite some time. If you don't know it, I don't recommend putting resources into learning it. If you favour VB syntax, learn VB.NET.

And, at the level of your question, you need to buy a book and work through it. Ask here again when you know enough to ask a specific question, no forum reply is going to teach you the whole language.

That method doesn't account for culture differences. The period is used in English formats, but others, for example, use a comma for the decimal seperator.

If your code is running on different cultures, you have to account for the differences in number formatting:

Dim currCulture As CultureInfo = CultureInfo.CurrentCulture
Dim decimalSeperator As String = currCulture.NumberFormat.NumberDecimalSeperator

Then you can use the string in decimalSeperator in your IndexOf call.
