I have a gridview in a VB2005 project that contains a checkbox. In VB2003 I used a datagrid and I have the code to read the datagrid to determine how many and which boxes were checked. I am having trouble converting my code to use a gridview. How do you in VB2005 read a gridview and determine if the checkbox was checked?
Thanks

There are many ways to do this. Probably the easiest way would be to add a DataGridViewCheckBoxColumn to your GridView. Then set the FalseValue property and the TrueValue property of this column. Then set the DataPropertyName property to the field you want to bind this control to from your DataTable/DataSet or whatever you are binding to the DataGrid. Now when the box is checked that field in the DataTable/DataSet will be set to whatever value you set as the TrueValue property.
I hope this at least will put you on the right track. Good luck.

Sir/Madam
I am Final Year Engineering student. I want to get information about connection of computers at different cites.
Actually if I want to computerize a department of any company which have its offices at several cities then what steps I should follow.
Means how I can connect that no of computers in appropriate manner to get desired output.
I want to make it just like railway reservation system through in which if I enter data at same time then database must be able to prioritize data in sequence to enter in database.
Which database & platform or language I should use to code this kind of project.
Thank You

Please don't cross post. Currently, you have posted this same topic on the Suggestions, Visual Studio, Work and Training Issues, General Discussions, Web Development, SQL / ADO / ADO.NET, ASP.NET, VB.NET, Visual Studio and C# forums. I see from your profile that you have been warned of this before.

You're a final year student and you don't know what languages to use ? Do you know any ? There's no language I can think of that can't do this. The real question is, what language do you know ?
I'd imagine a central server which exposes a webservice and keeps the database.
Please don't cross post in future.

Hi,
Is it possible to read all the lines in a text file into seperate textboxes in vb6. If anyone knows please help. Thanks
|
|
|
|
|
the answer is yes. the consideration is that depending on the size of the file, that could be a large number of textboxes which could lead to issues managing that on the window.

Private Enum eLED_TEST
eLEDTEST_PASS = 1
eLEDTEST_FAIL
End Enum
Dim byteBuffer(64) as Byte
bytBuffer(1) = eLED_TEST.eLEDTEST_FAIL
After Building it gives the following error:
"Option Strict On disallows implicit conversions from 'Commlink2.Form1.eLED_TEST' to 'Byte'"
Can anyone please tell me what should be done for this?

hello
when I hit the delete button in BindingNavigator1 the update method of tableadapter give me this error.
"Update requires a valid DeleteCommand when passed DataRow collection with deleted rows"
how can i delete my data that be deleted in my database(SQL 2005).
thanks for your help

It's telling you that it doesn't know how to delete the data in your database because you haven't supplied an SqlCommand to do the delete. How are you setting up your DataAdapter to get the data?

Does your database table have a primary key? If not, there's no way for the Delete command to uniquely find each record to delete it.
Also, I find supporting the Designed generated code to be a huge problem. Writing the code yourself gives you a much greater control over the data process and makes it much easier to support since you can actually find the code.

theatre booking with minimum 200 text boxes on form and maximum 600 text boxes, as seats looking for code for this to say whether the seats are booked or free as with multi dimensional array the code that is generated for each txt box would be phenomanal looking for easy way than that at present using tab index to code the programme.

Why not just use a multi-dimensional array? Also try looping through all the controls of the type textbox in your form.

would generate mass amount of code for just 1 text box.

I don't think you need to put any code in any event of the text box. like evilnoodle said, use the control collection
you didn't specify what you wanted done when you found a free seat so the below just finds the first free textbox...
For each oCtrl as me.controls
if typeof (octrl) is textbox then
with ctype(octrl, textbox)
if .text = "free" then
.focus()
exit for
end if
end with
end if
next

You really need to rethink this. If I saw an application that did this, I recommend to the customer that they uninstall it and finding a different solution provider.

i have a form with a list that shows thumbnails of many jpg pictures.
i works with a loop, that looks through the paths of the jpgs from a database, and adds the image to a image list, then adds the item into the list with the corresponding image.
works fine.
the problem is, that loading the images delays the program execution, and so I've made it into a "please wait" dialog, but still its quite slow.
how can i create a method that loads the list without the images, and then, without pausing execution, (i.e. in the background) loads the images (into the image list) one by one.
I've tried a few ways, some work but it's very inefficient
thank you in advance

You'll have to move your image loading code to a background thread. There's many examples of using the BackgroundWorker component. All you have to do is Google for it.

i've already tried a background worker, yet i guess i need to time it better or work on the code
cause it loads them and if you touch one unloaded it ruins certain things (guess i'd just disable them
at first)
thank you, guess i was waiting for a diffrent approach but this is probably the best way

1) use a databound listbox and get the records from the database and set the datasource to the result
2) look into "threading" to load behind the scenes.
|
|
|
|
|
if i set the datasource on the listbox (haven't tried it) then how do i get to load jpgs into it?
i didn't think i could, i'll give it a try (with a databound imagelist aswell?) thanks
