WPF is the way to go to create controls like this. This means your whole app will use WPF.

VB.net and C# has the facility for creating the control.

Hiya,
That sort of thing probably would not be a control, you would have to write the code for that yourself, which would probably have to be written in C++/C# and it would need a lot of code! Or you could use WPF in there somewhere, but that requires a lot of overhead and can be slow on some computers, but WPF can be quite good.

I have created an aspx page which displays the list of books in a grid when we search according to a search condition. If i click for details of the book it is displayed in another page. if I need to return to the page where the list is displayed usin a hyperlink or link button what should I do?
|
|
|
|
|
You should start by asking in the ASP.NET forum.
You will end up passing the details on the URL so the page goes to where you want it to.

Hardly...
As you are doing a postback, the referrer will be the same page.
Despite everything, the person most likely to be fooling you next is yourself.

sorry but postback url doesnot take me to the previous page but it takes me to the page where I have to make the search again.
|
|
|
|
|
If the URL of the page containing the search result doesn't represent that page uniquely (i.e. you just populate the result on postback), then your only option to return to that page is to use the history in the browser to go back, so that the post data is resent to recreate the page.
Despite everything, the person most likely to be fooling you next is yourself.

A quick and easy way to go back to the previous page is to use javascript,
onClick="history.back()"
But as Christian said, you should post on the correct forum in future.

|
|
|
|
yhanks for your suggestion. I will surely try this out. Tell me this "history.back()" is a predefined function or should we write the script?

Hiiiiii
If you are working in vb 6.0 or vb.net then you use the "VBCRLF" for new line.
Like this
"Your Message" & vbcrlf & "Your Message"

Don't use VBCRLF in VB.NET, it's just VB6 rubbish. Use .NET whereever you can, so it flows nicely to C# if you ever need to use it.

Hi, I made a program in visual basic 6 that is causing memory error running on Windows XP Embedded.
The runtime error message:
"This instruction at "0x7c910f29" referenced memory at
0x00000000" The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program"
[ OK ]
The total disk space is 1gb, whose 500mb are used by WinXP Embedded.
Does anyone know the possible cause?
I´m not storing any huge string, either any huge collection, etc.
Sometimes this message appears with frequency, others it just happens.
Thanks.

Looks to me like a problem with a library you call, or you're calling an API that Embedded does not support perhaps ?
Why are you still using VB6 ? It's been dead for 6 years now.

Hi Christian,
I´m still using it, because our device is stable with vb6. The next step is vb.net (far future).
But the current error makes my program crashes, =/
I´m using some specifics apis´s, not mine.
I really dont know what´s happening.
Thanks anyway

Based on the un-typed dataset, I have created an employee input form using northwind database. I have used standard bindingnavigator strip with extra added stripbuttons for query, filter, copy record besides standard buttons like add, edit, delete and navigation buttons.
Now I would like this revised bindingstrip to convert it as a user control (dll) so that I can simply drag and drop on every form which I am going to develop. This strip would have bindingsource propertyies and other necessary properties to set.
I don't want to re-create the bindingnavigator strip each and every time I develop a new input form.
Anxiously waiting for the repoonse.
Thanks & Regards,
Sabahat Hussain

You'd do better to write a proper data layer and then a control of your own that uses that. I am not sure how much that MS magic stuff can be extracted out like that.

Go with Christian recommendation. If you use one of MSs magics you will find you are doing more and more customisation to get around the limitations of the control.
You could end up with the ultimate user control, something like infragistics who have so many options the controls are almost unusable.
