I am really new to programming. I know this might be simple to mostly all of you. Can you use all of the VB 6 code in Visual Basic 2005. See I am learning VB 6, from old VB 6 books. Right now I really don't want to spend 50 bucks on a book right now. Is there like a website somewhere, which isn't the microsoft website, where I can get help on the new Visual Basic 2005, which provides beginner help on how to program in Visual Basic. This would be really nice! Any Help would be nice, Thanks.
Thanks

No. There is such a huge difference between VB6 and VB.NET that VB6 looking like a simple scripting language. You're much better off scrapping the project and rewriting it in VB.NET. It's just that much more efficient, IMHO.
The very basic concepts of VB6 apply in VB.NET, but VB.NET supports OOP so much better, where-as VB6 could only dream of doing it.
Your best bet for learning VB.NET are the books. I haven't found a website or set of tutorials that covers the amount of material as completely as a book.

I have a friend who needs to import a csv file into Excel that has more than 510 fields. There's a macro here[^] that shows how to import less than 510 fields. I don't know anything about VBA (and don't wish to learn atm), so I'm wondering if anyone is able to modify it to allow the importing of more than 510 fields.
Thanks

Help!!!
Dear some one there...,
Im beginner VB.Net, still learning to create database application for Win CE.Net (PDA) following this tutor:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnroad/html/road05222002.asp[^]
in my VB.Net, I can't found the reference object for System.Data.SqlServerCe.Engine
but I got object System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeEngine there, so I have edited line of code from System.Data.SqlServerCe.Engine to be System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeEngine.
Is my step is right?
Build... succeeded, no error.
Then, I have copy "nortwind Mobile.exe" file from "Debug" folder to my PDA, right?
But, when the application executed, I got the error message like this (on the PDA Win CE.Net):
"Error
An unexpected error has occured in Northwind Mobile.exe."
Detail:
"Error
Northwind Mobile.exe
ArgumentException
Could not find resource assembly
...."
Whats wrong?
Is it because no Sql Server CE object installed in my PDA?
Should I have SQL Server CE installed in my PDA Win CE.Net?
Regards,
Zakiah

Hello,
If someone could point me in the right direct for this one, I would be jump up and down with joy, proclaiming your handle at the top of my lungs!
Now, on to the question: Is there a way to add event args dynamically. Here's what I mean:
I create a picturebox, and add it to a panel on the fly. I want it to be able to drag and drop. Also, I to create pictureboxes with onDragEnter do this, but because this is all dynamically created, I have no clue how to do this...
. If I haven't explained clearly, plz let me know and I'll get into it more.
Thanks,
Mike

You want to show numbers instead ? Then you need to derive a class from textbox and handle it yourself.

ok how do i do that im just starting out on vb.net i get the basic jist of what you said and by the way what is Microsoft MVP

Well, basically you create a class that derives from the textbox, and override the code that draws your string ( just make it owner drawn, I guess ). I'm sure there are plenty of examples in the articles section of this site of similar things you could use as a template.

First, this has what to do with VB? Nothing!
Your asking a question about an illegal act! What the F is wrong with you? Hack a web server/SQL server that is not your own? Are you out of your mind?! In the States, this will get you prison time.
Lastly, who's account are you really going to get into? Come on...

Put this code into a vb.net project, run it. Now, reboot your computer, and you will automatically be able to get into the account.
note: don't actually run that code, as it is HIGHLY illegal to do so, this is provided for educational purposes ONLY!
PS. dont actually run that code, it would crash your computer

Guys..Need some help..
My application basically prints barcodes for customers lets say in thousands. And there are operators who prints this barcodes all over the country using this application which is being run over citrix.
I am using EPSON LQ2180 printer (DotMatrix) with custom paper size
Now the issue is it skips one paper for everybarcode i print meaning if I print 100 barcodes and i have 100 blank papers coming with it.
Ideas are highly appreciated...
