This question doesn't make any sense at all. There is no one memory address where the O/S sits. Are you trying to find out which O/S your app is running under and what version?

You make it sound like your paying for a service that we're not providing.
Go ahead and keep posting it, it'll just cause people to ignore you. The most probable reason why you're not getting any answers is because nobody knows what the answer is.

Sir/Madam,
I am facing problem in understanding the component file.I downloaded a project named complete read only project from the following path.
http://www.codeproject.com/vb/net/CompleteReadOnlyComboBox.asp[^]
There is a file named CompletereadOnlyFile.vb.
1.I wanted to know which kind to file that is , I meant it is component file or vb file or what.
2.When I click on the design of the file and then I check for its properties , I get to see a control on the property box , named System.Windows.Form.ComboBox. Even there is no combo box control
3.When i write the code line into the code behind file of completereadonlyfile.vb , The code line is inherits System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox.
Then it shows the following error.
Base class System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox specified for class completereadonlycombobox cannot be different from the base class System.ComponentModel.Component of one of it's partial types
Please help.
Thanks and Regards

You're posting this in the wrong place. Go to the bottom of the article, you posted the link to it, and you'll find a forum specific to the article. Post your questions there and you'll probably get a reply from the person who wrote the article.

Hi There,
Would like some help on this....
How do I convert from a string to system.drawing.color
ie.. "color.blue" to color.blue
might seems simple to you, but at the momnet it eldues me.
|
|
|
|
|
You can do it two ways:
1.
Dim ColorVar as System.Drawing.Color = Color.Blue
MsgBox(ColorVar.ToString) Which will display Color[Blue]
2.
Dim ColorVar as System.Drawing.Color = Color.Blue
MsgBox(ColorVar.Name) Which will display Blue
Hope this helps!

This is what i am trying to do...
'Changes the Colour of the Form's BackGround Colour.
Dim RandomValue As Integer
Dim Upper, Lower As Integer
Dim NewColour As Color
Upper = ListBox1.Items.Count
Lower = 0
RandomValue = CInt(Int(Upper - Lower + 0) * Rnd() + Lower)
NewColour = ListBox1.Items(RandomValue)
Me.BackColor = NewColour
the listbox contains the following :-
color.red
color.blue
color.black
color.yellow
|
|
|
|
|
I think you might be better off using an If statement.

in what way....
this is the line where the problem is
NewColour = ListBox1.Items(RandomValue)
that is why i need to find out how to convert from a string "color.blue" to the system.drawing.color type color.blue

WestSideRailways wrote: NewColour = ListBox1.Items(RandomValue)
What is the type of the variable NewColour? The ListBox item stores strings, so you should use string comparisons in your if statements.
If NewColour="Color.Blue" System.Drawing.Color = Color.Blue
and similarly for all other colors

trying not to be too blunt, but if you look at the 2nd answer, you will find that i am NOT using "IF" statements.
And the variable "newcolour" is of type color.

Same here...
If you look at my answer, you will see I have told you that a Listbox stores "strings"... and not variables of any other type. If you need to be able to set color based on a selection from a list box, change the type of NewColour to string and use the IF statements.

You can search the site, but I think the only free TWAIN library on here is C++. Atalasoft have a library for around $400 which looks good.

VB.NET 2003
Say i have two forms frmA and frmB
Currently I am in form A and I want to open form B, However I do not know the name of form B. I am pulling the name of the form from a database.
The code to open the form normally would be: ( I know the name of the form here and declare it as so)
Dim frmtolaunch as new frmB ''Declare the form
frmtolaunch.show() ''Show the form
However I don't know the name and the code resembles the following (I do not know the name and wnat to declare it based on a variable name)
dim frmBName as string ''Variable to hold form B name
...Code here to get the form name from the database
...Store the name into frmBname
dim frmtolaunch as frmBName ''ERRORS occur here
frmtolaunch.show() ''Show the form
QUESTION: how can I declare the form based on the name I pull form the database. ----dim frmtolaunch as frmBName------
|
|
|
|
|
You could create a routine that will return you the object via a select case statement.
public function oGetForm(sName as string) as form
select case sName
case "frmBName"
return new frmBName
case .
.
.
end select
end function
--------------
dim oFrm as form = oGetForm(dsRow("FormName"))
|
|
|
|
|
I believe you could also use the reflection library where class name would be the form's name
Public Shared Function CreateInstance(ByVal sAssembly As String, ByVal sClass As String) As Object
Dim ao As [Assembly], aoName As New AssemblyName
Dim o As Object
Try
aoName.Name = sAssembly
ao = [Assembly].Load(aoName)
o = ao.CreateInstance(sAssembly & "." & sClass, True)
Catch ex As Exception
'ExceptionManager.PublishException(ex)
Throw ex
End Try
ao = Nothing
Return o
End Function
---------------------
dim oFrm as form = CreateInstance("myproject",dsRow("FormName"))
|
|
|
|
|
When you publish a project in VS2005 and then install the application to a PC that you need the application from the install opens the application and runs the program after the install is complete. Is there a setup option I can set to not have the application run after install?
Thanks for any insight anyone has...

Hi ..
Im having a slight margin problem when the print out copy is done.
for example.
note! - (| = left margin , 'a' = text)
"|a" in printpreview , the printout is "| a".
can anyone offer some advice on how to deal with this offset . i can tell you the e.margins.left is indented(to the right) on printout but GOOD IN PRINT PREVIEW and ALSO the e.margin.right margin is ok in print preview but not showing in print out.
I've got the e.margins drawing to see them in print preview and in printout
thanks in advance.
