Ok, guys.

I managed to get this code, but the problem is that, it is suppose to create a dropdownlist and populate it with items from a database.I dont get any errors but the staff I request doesnt show either.

Can someone check and give tips.

What does show, then? Does the subroutines output anything at all?

I would expect the code to result in an error message, as it tries to open a recordset object that is already open.

The example code that you got isn't very good. It leaves the database connection open, with two recordset objects connected to it. Pretty soon the database will run out of available connections.

I'm fairly new to building web services. Once I write the code for my web service project, is there a way from within Visual Studio to deploy the web service onto the client's server?

Is that what the "Publish" operation is for?

What kind of privileges does the client have to give me on their web server?

If you are using VS.NET
"The deployment process in Visual Studio .NET is as simple as choosing the Build Solution option from the Build menu item (or pressing Ctrl-Shift-B). Because it's a beta, I'm lazy, and some other excuses I just can't come up with right now.

Hello All!

I have struggled with Web Service Encrypting/Decrypring (SOAP protocol and WSE 3.0)
and i haven't succeeded to encrypt my SOAP request from Client to Web Service.
All parameters and return values coming from Web Service are plain text.

How should I code my Client and Web Service so, that parameters and return values
are encrypted?

I have succefully proceeded Authentication and username/password are crypted.
But after that when I'm calling Web Service's methods parameters and return values
are plain text. So, can anyone please tell me the technique how to encrypt and decrpyct
paramters and returning data.

Does anyone have a recommendation for an open source PHP based system I can adapt for a genealogy site?

I need to make a bid on a genealogy site and would like an open source model so I can make changes to the design if necessary to customize it for a particular client.

I need to pin down more specific requirements but some of the requirements are "I want to end up with a very flexible easily maneuverable site that will allow for photos, videos, sound, uploads, downloads, links to and from other sites, etc., etc., etc.".

Obviously, from the tone of the statement, I can expect a significant amount of "feature creep" and will have to structure my bid accordingly.

He already indicated that he had in excess of 5,000 pictures that would need to be presented in 3 resolutions; thumbnail, low to medium resolution for viewing on-line and high resolution for download.

I am considering sub-contracting the photo rendering because I don't have the time or desire to do it myself but I would have to make a provision to display a title (Aunt Jane, Uncle Waldo, Church in Backwater Serbia where Grandparents were married, etc.).

There is also a significant amount of copy that the client will need to be able to modify as editing progresses or new information becomes available.

Further down in the RFP there is a statement "As far as the money goes, I feel XXXX thousand dollars to get this to a point where it is fully functional according to my desires (In case you don't already know, I am somewhat picky and a bit of a perfectionist)would be fair".

This tells me to factor "aggravation pay" into my bid also.

I am having second thoughts about bidding as I write this but the work is welcome and I have had difficult clients before.

If I could find an open source product I could customize for this site I will consider making a fixed price bid on a prototype (with strict design specifications) and subsequently additional bids on enhancements to the original design.

That way I can get some money up front and if the job becomes too demanding I can bail out on the enhancements stage of the project.

Any help locating an appropriate open source product would be greatly appreciated.

Any advice about how to structure the project so I can make money but not get caught in the impossible to please client trap would also be greatly appreciated.

i have a usercontrol on the form,
in the user control i have 3linkbuttons and correspond 3panels,
when i click on the linkbutton the panel will be visible.

in one of the panel i have a Dropdownlist(auto postback)
and depends on the selection in dropdownlist Datagrid will be displayed

in the datagrid i have a hyperlink to to edit the row of the datagrid.when i click on hyperlink
this opens in the child form and i am updating the row.

my problem is updating(refresh the datagrid) the parentform's--> usercontrlol-->panel-->dropdownlist--> datagrid.

using javascript i am able to refresh the parent form,but unable to go to access the usercontrol panel (panel is hidden onload)
here i need some mechanism to visible the panel
(,generally when i click the link button this is palnel is visible)

any ideas? how to do this. using javascript or asp.net.

What about action script (mm flash). Do you think it's a good way for implementing such this program?
Note that this program should read data from a file and draw shapes according to the data.
Js is a good way to do this but I want to research about another ways, to find the best.

Whilst that is a pretty cood lib for drawing stuff in JS, have you looked at its performance when things get complicated....at one point, due to the way it works, I ended up with c1000 divs on my page......
