jagmit20 wrote: Actually we r using master page , how can i refresh only content page ??
You can't. Master pages is a tool that is used on the server when creating the page, it has no relevance at all for the page once it reaches the browser.
jagmit20 wrote: Is it possible through any technique (like ajax or atlas update panel)?
Yes, you can place an element or update panel in the content page, and update it using AJAX or ATLAS.

I am trying to write a utility which will do the following:
Add a conext menu to the internet explorer so that I can right click on any hyperlink in any web page. When clicked on my context menu, I should be able to copy the specific hyperlink and submit to a web page on my site.
(My idea is to browse web pages, copy the RSS feeds and submit to an Rss aggregator).
Can anybody give some idea on how to implement this?

Internet Explorer does not allow extensions to be made by anyone except Microsoft. Try using the web browser Firefox and learn to build extensions for it here.
Firefox is a lot safer than IE and much better, you can custimize it and create your own add-ons and everything. It's really awesome. CHECK IT OUT!!

Hi All,
When a user presses a submit button on an HTTP form, what is the flow of events that occur?
Is the form data automatically sent to the server without even asking the server if it wants it? can you make the client skip few chuncks of the form data?
is it an asynchronous operation?
I look forward to hear from any of you.
Thanks.
Shahar.

DagsmanIsTheMan wrote: When a user presses a submit button on an HTTP form, what is the flow of events that occur?
The data from the form fields are put as data in a POST request that is sent to the server. The server sends a page as response, which is loaded in the window that was specified as target for the form.
DagsmanIsTheMan wrote: Is the form data automatically sent to the server without even asking the server if it wants it?
As it is sent as a request, it's not something that the server can decide if it want's or not. As long as it is a proper request, the server will respond to it in some way.
DagsmanIsTheMan wrote: can you make the client skip few chuncks of the form data?
No. If there is anything in the form that you don't want to send, remove it from the form.
DagsmanIsTheMan wrote: is it an asynchronous operation?
In some ways. It's handled asynchronuosly by the browser, but as the response generally replaces the current page it can't be handled asynchronuosly by the page.

Hello!
What are the rules of programming for different browsers such as mac, safari, opera, fireworks? My web site is working fine with IE. However, it is not working with some of other browsers.
Is there any tool that it could examine my HTML page and tell me what to change in code for a specific browser?
Thank You!

If the browsers have Javascript enabled, test for userAgent and send relevant browser to relevant Javascripted function.

If it's working fine in IE6, it's almost a guarantee that it won't work in any other browser.
IE6 has a number of bugs that makes it render the pages differently. As you have built your page for IE6, you are using these bugs to make the layout look in a specific way, so it won't work in any other browser.
When I develop pages I use a more standards compliant browser to test the page, like Firefox. When it works in Firefox there is a big chance that it will work in every non-IE6 browser. I then do the changes needed to make it work in IE6 also.
Over time I have learned the quirks of IE6, so that I can avoid most of the things that doesn't work in IE6 from the start.
To do it in the reverse order, taking a page that works in IE6 and make it standards compliant, is often much more work.

I posted this in the C++ forum, but it turns out that was the wrong place for it. I appologize if you end up reading it in both forums.
I'm trying to download the html for the forum pages here on CP, so that I can pull out the messages and do something with them(i.e. sort, search, display, etc.)
When I use view source in I.E. the messages(the text i am typing now) are in the html, however, when i download the html using wininet the bodies of the posts are missing. Only the titles appear in the html ("Different html with wininet than I.E." in the case of my post).
Anyone have any clue as to why this would happen? Is there some extra part of the url that i need to enter into wininet to get the correct version of the html?
I'm currently using:
<br />
http:
to get Soapbox messages.
Thanks.

The reason that the pages that you get are different, is that you are logged in when you browse to them, but not when you fetch the pages. You have to send the cookies along in the request when you fetch the pages, so that the server will recognise you and apply your settings when creating the page.

The cookies are getting sent. At least the log in one. when I fetch the home page, it says that i am loged in (this is using wininet.) Plus, wouldn't i still be able to view the bodies of forum posts(i.e. they would be in the html) even if I wasn't logged in?
Is there a special header I should be sending?
Thanks.

The site is probably identifying the browser that you are using, and when you fetch the pages there is no browser identification, so it removes the Javascript functionality as it doesn't know if it works.
If so, you have to mimic a specific browser by sending a HTTP_USER_AGENT header.
