There is no problem to get it right, you just have to use the right tool. If you want exact calculations, you simply don't use a data type that does not produce exact results.

In iexplore 7, ftp directories are shown as list of files (links) and not icons, like in previous versions. How can i force a ftp directory to be shown directly in the windows explorer using frames??

Hi all,
My requirement is like this.
I have one Text box and a value associated with that text box. Say the
Textbox name : Textbox3
and value : 5
Im writing a javascript associated with this textbox and the event is "onchange".When i clcik this text box im getting the name of the text box and the value associated with it and storing it in a cookie for later retrieval.The format in which i store is like this
Cookiename: Textbox3#5,
But when i have to delete the value from the text box i should also remove it from cokkie.That is im updating the cookie again.This i do by manipulating the value from a hidden text field that i use for temporary storage before writing it into cookie.So when im deleting the value from text box im first deleting the "Textbox3#5" format from hiddenfield.The name of the textbox could be deleted using the "Replace" method . I passsing the "this " object and using "hiddentext.replace(this.id+'#',"")". This will help me in removing the "Textbox3#" from the field, but im not able to delete the value in similar manner ,ie "hiddentext.replace(this.value,"")". Because the current value is nothing since i deleted it. So can anyone suggest me a way to delete the remaining part also ie "5" from "Textbox3#5".
Is there any method in javasript which helps in deleting characters by giving any generic character.Just like we use "*" if we dont know what will be the character in that position.

I have a database(access) and Im tryin to connect my webpage so I can compare values.I have already uploaded values into a combo box so when i select a value I want the page to go to database and filter values by the selected item and then display them into a datagrid or something.

The Contents in HTML Table Cell fits the cell if nowrap is set.I am trying to display the contents of cell in tool tip ,that only part of the text gets displayed in each cell(Ex: for "Go to Texas" must be displayed as "Go to....) when given minimum width so that user has to move mouse over the cell to view the full text content in cell.I would appreciate any help from you.

hi
i m facing a problem
we are using desktop client and webservices
in that client request the a webservice async
that remains on server until a specific condition is satisfied
and rest of the web services are called syncronsly
these services run on localhost without any problem
but if client and server machines are diffrent it hangs the application
dont knw wht is the reasn
let me tell u one more thing
both the services are using different sessions

hi
i m using webservices to access the data
that works fine
when data is sent from server against any request
it returns the data i needed even any column in any table contain white space like " "
but when i send the the data from client to server for updation
" " is replaced to "" for column value
when data is serialized it works fine for current or proposed values in dataset but if any modfied row containing white spaces in its orignalvalue
it dont preserve it accordingly
this is causing alot of problems
does anyone know the solution please help

Hi there
I have placed an AJAX accordion control on my aspx page as a menu using nested accordions. I have also implemented java script which causes the images on the accordion to change their image onMouseOver, and change back onMouseOut. What I am now striving to do is the when a image is clicked, the image remains on the "mouseOver" image. The problem here is that while on the click event my script runs and the image changes, the MouseOut script also runs, even if I DO NOT move the mouse off the image after the click. I appears that mouseOut runs by default after a onClick event.
Does anyone have a possible solution to the problem, as I have already wasted well over 6hours on this what is seemingly a mundane task.

Determine the order the events are being fired. A temporary alert with the name of the event is a quick way to determine this.
Set a state variable in the first event that can be read by the second event and determine what the appropriate action is based on the variable.

Thanks for the reply. Below you can see my code. Basically the first function runs on a click event. However the problem is that on the click event the mouseOut also runs, which is attatched to the second function. I atempted to put a if statement in the second function which would pick up that the image was clicked and not mouseOvered due to the differing image src paths, however it merely seems to pass straight over this. I tested with alerts prior to your reply, and it returned the clicked event followed by the mouseOut event even though i didnt mouseOut. The strange this is, i told the alert to return to me the current image path, and even though the first function changed the image path, the second functions if statement merely ignored this fact and still ran the first if statement, thus switching the image back. Any suggestions?

Although you said you were using javascript in your original post I suspect you are using vbscript because I think the comparison operator in vbscript is a single = sign.
You also mention AJAX control so I suspect you are coding asp.net which I do not have any experience with.

Please correct me if I was wrong. I was under the impression I could use this method for calling the first of any parameters sent into the function "setImageClicked.arguments[0]" and the second is Just using the name of the image which is "TrckingSystemLink" and calling its ".src" method. So as I see it this is jscript? If you would write this method in diff way, please feel free to do so, as it seems that my script is muddled based on what you have said. Thanks again.

I didn't know document had a .src method.
I was referring to the HTML DOM document model. Maybe I am wrong but I have always used document.document-method.methods-methods, etc., not document[something].method, but maybe I just haven't seen document used like this.
I usually stick to a few well tried methods with the DOM document ( document.getElementsByTagName, document.getElementById, document.getElementByName, document.write, document.anchors[], document.forms[], document.images[], document.links[], etc).
See HTML DOM Document Object[^] for collections, properties and methods of the DOM document.
I am not saying you are wrong, I am just saying I have never seen the HTML DOM Document Object used that way.
Maybe what you are using is a non-standard extension of the HTML DOM Document Object specific to asp.net which I am not familiar with at all.
I use straight HTML (DHTML, XHTML), CSS, javascrit and standard AJAX (XMLHttpRequest [AcxiveX for IE < 7]) for client side coding so that my web pages stand a chance of rendering on a wide variety of browsers, but it does take tweaking.
The thing that stood out the most in your code was that you were using a single = sign in your if statements. I think a single = sign is a comparator in vbscript but in javascript it is an assignment operator.
Double equal signs (==) are the comparison operator in javascript. Standard javascript that is.
I cannot say in asp.net how you code if statements but in standard javascript it would be something like if(this == that). If you use the single = sign in standard javascript you will assign that to this (previous example) in the if statement which would always be true, and would always execute the code.
As I mentioned I don't know how you do it in asp.net so I don't know if this holds true in that environment.
Maybe some of the asp.net gurus can help you get a well formed script going in that environment.

I'm Sending A Valid String but the web service Gets Null String insted of the string that i've sent to it.
I must say that this same Web function Has another parameter, of inteter
type, and that this parameter is passing OK with the right value.
