The format of the resizable parameter on the windows open method is "resizable=yes|no|1|0".
See HTML DOM open() Method[^] for details about windows open method.
Taking a look at your settings I noticed that you are not formatting the resizable parameter with a value and suggested that you format it with a yes (one of the acceptable parameters specified for the windows open method), presuming you want to make the window resizable.
It is just a thought so you can try it or not, as you please.
You did mention that you are a beginner so here is the actual settings string so you can understand what I am talking about.
Haun the 2nd wrote: settings =
'height='+h+',width='+w+',top='+TopPosition+',left='+LeftPosition+',scrollbars='+scroll+',resizable'
try settings =
'height='+h+',width='+w+',top='+TopPosition+',left='+LeftPosition+',scrollbars='+scroll+',resizable=yes'
Not sure that is your problem but it is just something I noticed.

If you want both the download to start and a window open with the information, you need to open two windows.
Do you have access to some server scripting (like ASP.NET, ASP, PHP, JSP...) that you can use to read the information from the xml file and present it as a page?

I don't think so, but really - don't bother trying. If it's on the screen, there is always a way for someone to get it if they want. If nothing else they can always use screen-capture and OCR software to recreate it.

What does show, then? Does the subroutines output anything at all?
I would expect the code to result in an error message, as it tries to open a recordset object that is already open.
The example code that you got isn't very good. It leaves the database connection open, with two recordset objects connected to it. Pretty soon the database will run out of available connections.

I'm fairly new to building web services. Once I write the code for my web service project, is there a way from within Visual Studio to deploy the web service onto the client's server?
Is that what the "Publish" operation is for?
What kind of privileges does the client have to give me on their web server?

Hi Richie,
Check this link from oriely. Pretty detailed on webservices.
http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/prognetws/chapter/ch02.html
If you are using VS.NET
"The deployment process in Visual Studio .NET is as simple as choosing the Build Solution option from the Build menu item (or pressing Ctrl-Shift-B). But, in order to take advantage of this two-click deployment, you first need to properly configure Visual Studio .NET to be able to deploy to your instance of IIS."
If you are deploying a WS other wise check this section in the above link "Deploying a Web Service Directly to IIS"

The third (and probably final) beta of the Test Recorder is now available:
http://watintestrecord.sourceforge.net/[^]
The Test Recorder generates code to run against the WatiN (Web Application Testing In .NET) library:
http://watin.sourceforge.net/[^]
Features in this version include:
-VB.NET, C#, and PHP code generation
-User-definable code page templates
-User-definable code macros
-Lots of bug fixes
Test Recorder is open-source freeware written completely in C#.

This message will soon disappear - why not write an article on your project and post it to the site ?

Because it's a beta, I'm lazy, and some other excuses I just can't come up with right now.
I need a few people to give the beta a try before I call it ready for full version status. In the next few weeks, I'll be doing the last polish and that may include writing an article.

Hello All!
I have struggled with Web Service Encrypting/Decrypring (SOAP protocol and WSE 3.0)
and i haven't succeeded to encrypt my SOAP request from Client to Web Service.
All parameters and return values coming from Web Service are plain text.
How should I code my Client and Web Service so, that parameters and return values
are encrypted?
I have succefully proceeded Authentication and username/password are crypted.
But after that when I'm calling Web Service's methods parameters and return values
are plain text. So, can anyone please tell me the technique how to encrypt and decrpyct
paramters and returning data.
Thanks,

Does anyone have a recommendation for an open source PHP based system I can adapt for a genealogy site?
I need to make a bid on a genealogy site and would like an open source model so I can make changes to the design if necessary to customize it for a particular client.
I need to pin down more specific requirements but some of the requirements are "I want to end up with a very flexible easily maneuverable site that will allow for photos, videos, sound, uploads, downloads, links to and from other sites, etc., etc., etc.".
Obviously, from the tone of the statement, I can expect a significant amount of "feature creep" and will have to structure my bid accordingly.
He already indicated that he had in excess of 5,000 pictures that would need to be presented in 3 resolutions; thumbnail, low to medium resolution for viewing on-line and high resolution for download.
I am considering sub-contracting the photo rendering because I don't have the time or desire to do it myself but I would have to make a provision to display a title (Aunt Jane, Uncle Waldo, Church in Backwater Serbia where Grandparents were married, etc.).
There is also a significant amount of copy that the client will need to be able to modify as editing progresses or new information becomes available.
Further down in the RFP there is a statement "As far as the money goes, I feel XXXX thousand dollars to get this to a point where it is fully functional according to my desires (In case you don't already know, I am somewhat picky and a bit of a perfectionist)would be fair".
This tells me to factor "aggravation pay" into my bid also.
I am having second thoughts about bidding as I write this but the work is welcome and I have had difficult clients before.
If I could find an open source product I could customize for this site I will consider making a fixed price bid on a prototype (with strict design specifications) and subsequently additional bids on enhancements to the original design.
That way I can get some money up front and if the job becomes too demanding I can bail out on the enhancements stage of the project.
Any help locating an appropriate open source product would be greatly appreciated.
Any advice about how to structure the project so I can make money but not get caught in the impossible to please client trap would also be greatly appreciated.
