how to search&open the root folder file???

hi,
currently i m working in asp.net 2.0 (web application)
i have a doubt in javascript
i m using...

window.open("login.aspx");

for the above execution, it search the file in the same local directory.
but wherever i m (in any folder, sub-folder), if i execute this line, i have
to come to the ROOT directory and open the login.aspx page.
how to proceed this?

In asp.net there is a statement

Response.Redirect("~/login.aspx");

in javascript window.open() ?????

You wrote it like window.open("../login.aspx")
.. is present the one sub drectory,so if you have more than one subdirectory then use .. as much as subdirectory count.

actually i wrote one javascript file, which will process in all pages and finally redirect to LOGIN page of ROOT folder. more number of folders/sub folders are there..

~/ is used to get the root folder path of an application in asp.net.
In javascript????

Suggest me some good idea to proceed with..

Hello,

I am a genuine novice with Java. I have written the following code to accept a passed variable and open a window designed to show an enlarged graphic. The window opens but then displays the following error, which seems to indicate that the path is incorrect; however, it is the exact path is used to display the original graphic (which works fine). Here is the error, followed by the code.

The Error:

Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

Good Morning,

Thank you for the reply. Nope....I replaced the tilde with the periods and received the following error:

HTTP Error 404 - Not Found.
Version Information: ASP.NET Development Server 9.0.0.0

It's different, but still missing content. Thanks for the effort. Please feel free to suggest anything else if you should come up an idea.

enabling synonyms for labels

Hi!

if a form looks like below

name: asp:textbox
address: asp:textbox
..
..

I would like to give users of the web application capability of renaming those labels name and address to their own wordings. how is it possible database wise? I also would like to give them flexibility to add another label and another control in the form as well. I tried to design the datbase and am struggling myself. extra label and controls could be hard coded in form and keep hidden until they activate it. my db looked like

user table
userid, orgid, name, address, extra field1, extra field2..extra fieldN
1,1,name,fullname, sydney,null,null..nullN
synonym table
synId, synorgId, syndefaultname, syncustomname, isactive
1,null,name, name,1
1,1,name,fullname,1
1,1,address,address,0

could someone please help me to extend my logic.

The connection string in the global.asax is:

The error occurs when I run this application in backup server. It works well in the previous webserver. I think the error is in connection string but still don't get idea how to fix. Pls help me!

Do I need to type in the server name or just local host?

Here's the gist of your problem. I see that you're using localhost as your database server in your connection string; does the database server on localhost have a user named cfeuser? Does it have the same password? Hell, is the database even installed there?

Yes, I have that user and password. The database is also installed.

What do you mean by C# application? A stand-alone application written on C#? If yes, you can't show it on a browser.

I have a login User Control on my masterpage, and many pages one being a Contact Page.

When you are on the Contact page, the button on the Contact page will not fire the RequiredFieldValidators on the Login User Control, which is correct.

However, when you click the button on the Login User control, it will fire the RequiredFieldValidators on the Contact page, which I do not want.

Now I've tried putting them each in different ValidationGroups, and that didn't work.

I also tried removing all the validation fron the User Control and setting the CausesValidation to False, and that didn't work.

As always any replys, will be very much appreciated.

Hi,

My ASP.Net project uses DirectorySearcher to do a r/w operation against the Active Directory server instance. I have a stacktrace below of an error that I encounter when my DirectorySearcher instance calls FindAll(). I was wondering if this has got to do with permissions that I may not have to perform this kind of operation. Appreciate any help, thanks.

Nunit and unit testing of ASP.NET application [modified]

Hi all,
Need your suggestions

How should i approach testing functions in a ASP.NET application.
Its not integration testing but a unit testing(functions) But the problem is

It is nearly impossible to isolate a function due to dependencies
Many funcition are expecting other objects like Page Class context, Configuration settings many more complex objects like session context... etc

now how can i test this methods using Nunit framework
how should i initialized these objects ?
should i use mock object concept ?
is Nunit framework appropriate tool for writing the test cases ?

Please suggest

Thats the problem UI layer is having business rules implemented making quite hard to test the application.
We are going to rewrite the application using MVC architecture but before to that we need to write Nunit test cases for existing application.

Probably yes. You need to create an interface which wraps HttpContext. Inject this interface as a dependency to your business classes. Read more about dependency injection[^].

In your test cases, you can mock this interface and set expectations. I suggest Rhino Mocks[^] for mocking.

It is a wise idea to program to interfaces than implementations.

You mean to seperate the business layer from UI only for Testing purpose ?
