As it says, EntLib provides a package of code that covers common scenarios, like exception handling, logging, data access, etc. so you don't have to write it.

Unable to type into asp.net textbox

Hi,

I am creating a website using visual studio 2008 with framework 3.0 using vb.net,
In my page i have a textbox for which i have written server side textchanged event and the textbox is in updatepanel. In this event i am doing some calculations and setting focus to another textbox.

The Problem is that although it sets the focus to another textbox but does not allow me to type anything there. Cursor blinks in that textbox but i cannot type anything in it.

If anyone can pls tell me what am i doing wrong here and what is the solution for this.

You your self answer your question.
As soon as you type in the textbox, the TextChanged event gets fired and the focus is set to another textbox.

I am not sure what you want to achieve by doing this. May be someone can help you if elobrate the scenario.

oh sorry i think the entire message did not appear....

Although focus is set on another textbox, i am unable to type anything there. The cursor blinks there but it does not allow me to type anything in it.

So if anyone can tell me what can be the problem. I am trying to find this out since a week but no help yet. pls if anyone can tell me what can be the problem and what is the solution to it.

I am developing an online shopping site......In this there can be many categories with their many sub-categories.......and with products. I have to define specifications at run time through the administrator....at the run time...There can be n number of specifications in a category...........For E.g. A Camera can have these Specifications like:

RESOLUTION, SCREEN, LENS, BATTERY, INTERFACE, METERING.

All i have to do it dynamically....what i need to use to create it.......please guide me.

Before starting coding, you need to sit with a pen, a paper and start jotting the exact flow of the application(which I think you know the best among the people at CP).
You should than start designing the database schema according to your needs.

For example you should start with a Table called Category

ID
Name
…

Create another table called SubCategory

ID
Name
CategoryID
…

Next step would be to start creating the SQL queries/stored procedures. Test them by inserting the data manually using Management Studio.
Once you are done with this business logic, now proceed to the UI/presentation layer where you can give options to manage the Categories at run time. This would mere be some insert, delete or update stored procedures.

Hi All

In publish website i am getting this Error.

if i delete any one from the above path,
it gives Error for the remaining all pages..

when i click on build website, i am getting BuildSucceded message.

Most likely Vis Studio has the assembly locked (why...who knows),

so close vs

delete the files from the cache

Add it back in then recompile.

The temporary files shouldn't matter but for good measure you can throw in an IISReset as well before the delete/rebuild

when i tried to delte the files from

C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp\Temporary ASP.NET Files\back up smsprod

it is showing a window,with the below message.

cannot delete ajaxcontroltoolkit:Access
is denied.

Make sure the disk is not full or write-
protected and that the file is not
currently in use.

i tried by removing readonly and other changes in properties of
back up smsprod
but still no use..

Shut down your IIS
Close all the instance of Visual Studio

and try again...

I tried
now from asp.net temporary folder i am able to delete the content
and i did that one.

after i open vs and click on publish website
now
same old 70 erros i am getting..

what might be the problem for this...

In visual stadio.net when I create a new web site,I have App_Code option in Asp.net folder menu.
But when I create a new project---> WebApplication (C#) I don't have this option.
In the first way I 've not Renfrences folder.In the second way I have.
Is there any diffrance between create a website project and create a web application project?

i have a hardware....i am receiving data in to the server and from there i need to display the graphs......
My question .....what the best approach i must use so the application to display the graphs online using WWW.....

i need the concept and materials and samples if any body already did it.....

Kindly note i dont want the logic how to draw the graphs.....i need the best way to do in what technology.....

Thats depends on your requriment. See, if you want to developed it using ASP.NET, ASP.Net has nothing to do with your hardware. Web application can read data from database or some file and can display the graph on pages.

Now how to display the graph : There are many graph and chart control available. If you are going to do it using ASP.NET and you have 3.5 SP1 framework, then you can use Microsoft Chart Control.
If you want to lookin for third party, check with Dundas or Fusion Chart. Smile | :)

Actually i have done the same thing in VC++ as a stand alone.....application.I mean i have a hardware i am getting the data through serial port....i am storing in the My SQL DataBase i iam reading it and displaying the Grapph.But now i need to support it online...i mean if i click www.exgraph.com i will get a page and which display the graph.i hope u understand my problem.I am not familliar with what is server and how i can connect to the www.....and hoy i can block the memory in the server...I hope the server are third party and i need to buy so where i can get that.....

Create user control. And implement what ever you want inside user control. Placed it inside web parts. Smile | :)
