Dear All,
i am using asp.net2.0 ,C# .
let me tell you scenario.
i built a web application called daily call report that have two classes in the folder app_code and other aspx file and its code behind file.
now i have to deploy this web application but problem is I have to incorporate this web application other web application that is my site will run thrugh other application whenever user select to go my site.
now i published my whole project and placed the all dll inside root folder (that is i placed my aspx pages inside folder called dailycallreport and all respective dll to bin folder ) now issue is the classes i have wriiten generates app_code dll and it conflict with existing app_code dll. i placed bin inside dailycallreport folder but i is not recongnizing . client is not giving all classes they used so it not possible to overwrite the same app_code i would like to know how can i placed my class file dll so that other setting does not affect ..
please suggest something.

Create a new app in IIS at the subfolder level, then deploy there

Hi all,
may be this is a very simple question but i am just getting wild on it. i have image path in a database and and its description which is a very long text now i want to display image in left and its description in right. I have table and in one row in td i have imaneg and in another i have is descrtion
<table>
<tr>
<td>
//display image here
</td>
//display description here
<td>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
now what happens is that i get a very long string in descriptin in single line so its td gets wider how can i fix this.so that the string is displaye like 100 charecter perline
i know this is very simple question but some time we get stuck.
one more question (not important to replay) does ane one provide me with idea like how can i make site like that of newspaper means layout once agin this question is really not importat to replay but earlier one i am just stuck

Ive read many an article where it suggests that having a website with a newspaper layout is very bad for usability.
There has to be a point where the text on screen is displaued differently to that of a newspaper.
What you could do is put an image in the top corner and make it look like a corner of a newspaper for style affects, however i think the text should be displayed normally.
Regarding your first question, I would just limit the lenght of the column that should move it onto the next line

In my application i have to use anchor tag for redirecting to another page.
I want to pass customized url as url+querystring but unable to do it.
I have saved the querystring in a span.
but how to get value from span and pass it to anchor.
Please help me........

Why not just render it in the anchor in the first place ?

I have an asp.NET 3.5 web project in C# that includes references to
System.Core
System.Data.Linq
System.Xml.Linq
and a page with the following test code ...

The solution compiles, but when I run the application I get the following error ...
Compilation Error

Compiler Error Message: CS0234: The type or namespace name 'Linq'
does not exist in the namespace 'System' (are you missing an assembly reference?)

It looks like I need to add the correct version of the references and add some information to the web.config file.
EDIT 2: I've checked all the references and they are fine, now I get a different error ...
CS1026: ) expected
yet this works fine in a console application with exactly the same references!?

I used to get a lot of errors about LINQ earlier.
You need to re-create the references again for LINQ from following path:
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v3.5

I dunno that I'd expect to store multi language stuff in the DB, but if I did, I'd probably have a column for each language supported.

I am creating a custom gridview and need to pass the page's sortExpression string to the custom gridview control. I tried using the ViewState; however, it does not work. Next, I wanted to use a .Net class that implements the IStateManager for this purposed; however, I could not find one available. What is the best way to use the viewstate for passing a string value from a web page to a custom control or is there a class that implements the IStateManager that I can use. I would hate to build a new class the implements IStateManager just for passing a string. Note: currently I have to use a static property in the custom control for doing this but would like to use viewstate.

The obvious way is to have a property in your custom control and just pass it in with code from the page that contains it. Viewstate exists only within the page, or the control, it doesn't cross over like session state does.

The reason I used a static property in the custom control is because on each postback the custom control is garbage collected so if the property were not static it would be lost.

You can't, unless you change your data source accordingly. The easiest way to do this is a repeater.

Hi all,
Is there a way that I can dynamically determine all the images in a bannerfarm and then display them as thumbnail images. so if some of the image are removed or added on the bannerfarm it will update on the site and only display what is in the bannerfarm.
I'm trying to keep the site independent from the bannerfarm.
If someone can just nudge me in the right direction, this is the first time that I'm working with bannerfarms so I'm not exactly sure how to approach this.

This gets asked at least four times a day. Write a HTTP handler that takes the id of the image and streams back the bytes, and then put links to that handler in your img tags
