It looks like you haven't registered your control assembly. So default ASP.NET will look in System.Web.UI.WebControls and throws this error. Add the below tag to top of your page.

I guess you want to parse the page, so that when you show it, you've wrapped the word in question in a div that sets a style to change it's color. Like Google does.
So, you've got the rest done, and just need to get the syntax highlighting to work ?

I'm new to custom controls and having trouble, am working with VS2008: I'm trying to edit an application that uses javascript input control on the page, and PostBackEventHandler and PostBackDataHandler to handle postbacks
We have a main aspx page with a set of controls nested inside one another. I want to create a new nested control consisting of a textbox and an adjacent hyperlink to trigger storage of the contents of the textbox in the class variables of the parent control. I created a simple test app that just includes the custom control directly in the main webpage's codebehind, but can't get the postback working. If I enable script debugging, I get error "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object expected" at the "__doPostBack('__Page','Hello')" part of the script (from the GetPostBackEventReference") call. Simplified code for my custom control is included below, and below that is the code I include in the .aspx.cs page's codebehind where I'm trying to use the control.

i have my form names and user names in the database , which tells , which form pertains to which user.
Now my question is , still there is any need to utilize the autorization tag in the web.config file ?
I am authorizing the user from checking the formnames from the database .

This would work with normal pages. But in MasterPages, it is different. Even though you have given the ID as "editname" ASP.NET appends a prefix of the contentplaceholder name along with the actual name. To overcome this, you can set the JavaScript call at runtime from the CodeBehind using editname.ClientID property as parameter to the JS function rather than hardcoding it.

Hard coding this is a bad practice. Once you changes the content place holder name, your script will stop functioning. You should use ClientId which is the correct solution.

They look different, the only issue you will have is that sln files will open in 2003 if you double click them.

I am sorry for stupid title, but I don't know how to name the thread.
Anyway, I am working on a web admin panel and I have a problem about object reference.
I know what this error mean, but what I don't know is why I reload some page 1000 times and I try to reload it 1001 time, and I get object reference?
Sometimes is on if (dataReader.Read()) and sometimes on if ((bool)Session["SomeText"]).
Can session be abandoned this way?
Before this if's, I have another if (in session_start in global.asax) that verifies whether session is null or not.
Does anyone have an idea what could be a problem?

I guess if your database connection fails, you get a dataReader back that is null, and you're not checking it. And, I guess your session must be timing out. I always check if a session variable is null before I try to convert it to anything. In fact, I'd tend to wrap it in a property that does exactly that, so it's written once and used every time.

I've added check if connection is opened, but unfortunately, I have to wait to see if error comes again  , but I definitely have to change some things in my code.

I want to load an image into an image control on page postback
the images in the folder are loaded in a listbox then when the user clicks onteh image it loads inthe listbox, but the image nerver loads..

It will load, you just need to click a few times. Your problem ( as you'd notice if you set some breakpoints to try to debug your code ) is that page_load occurs BEFORE your events fire. You need to set the imageURl inside your event, or in the prerender event, which fires after click events.
And, please tell me you are not writing a project with a control called ListBox1.
