What do u mean by run "regsvr32 dllname.dll" on the DLL? How to do that

Hi,
Is the COM component that you added a reference to in your VS .Net project on the remote server as well?
If it isn't you will also have to install that COM component on the server.
If it is on the server, open up Command Prompt on the server, and change the directory to the location of that COM DLL.
Then, in the command prompt type in "regsvr32 COMDLLNAME.dll" and press enter.
You should get a messagebox saying that the DLL was registered correctly. Press OK, and try your ASP project again.
Eg, When I did this on my server, I had used the OWC11.dll as the reference to the charting controls. So, once I had located the DLL on the remote server, I had to manually register the COM dll using "regsvr32 OWC11.dll" in command prompt.

I used the above method in the end the message was Entry point Not found

dear all,
i don't know where to post this problem but i thought i could get some help from this forum. Like we all know when we are running a yahoo messenger or msn messenger and then when we log into respective pages i.e yahoo mail and hotmail we don't have to give our name and password it takes it self from the messenger. Now since messenger is windows application and yahoomail and hotmail are web application how can i make such interaction. Also i need to get mac address from the windows application and transfer the same via web application to the server for verification.
The whole things revolve around the verification of user name and password and from which mac address it has come. Any logic link will be highly appreciated thank you very much

Hi,
If you want to open the webpage on click of any button from window application then you have to start process as below.
Process prs = Process.Start("www.google.com");
So you can interact with webapplication as this.

But how can i pass my credential. Similarly in a way in which we can pass from msn messenger to hotmail. Your solution will only open the page but i want the credential on the application transfer to the page. When we are logged in yahoo messenger and then after a while we open yahoomail then we dont have to give user name and password right?

nowrap is HTML tag, right? so, I think you should be able to use it in .NET 2005 too..

You can add anything you like to your tags, anything that ASP.NET does not recognise in a server tag is passed straight through to the client.

Hello,
I'm planning on starting a medium-sized ASP.NET application with about 5 developers.
What is the quickest way of developing the application using an available web development framework?
It is a community-based application. The environment that we are pretty comfortable is ASP.NET, C#, SQL Server 2005.
Please advice.

You have a few more factors to consider. How many users do you expect on the site? How much content? How much are you willing to spend? How soon do you want it finished?

There's going to be local events, bookmarks, messageboards, yellowpages, match-making, user profiles.
Since the 5 of us are volunteers, we are looking to keep the cost at the minimum.
We are looking at 6 mo time frame.

Try DotNetNuke.It has many built in modules which you would require in a community-based site as forums, discussions, blogs, Image Gallery, events , Announcements etc.Just have a look at it its free(Open Source) the built in modules are mostly in VB.NET but you have option of adding your own modules which can be in C# also.

Yes I agree DNN customization is not so easy but its not so difficult also.If you have use for in built modules you can use them and if you think that you need some extra functionality you can either modify the core modules or you can develop your own custom module and developing custom module is not difficult at all you can find many resources articles on it.
The plus point is that you can find most of the things you need for a community-based site in core modules I dont think that you will have a need to modify them.Now you have to decide it as I dont know your exact requirement.If most or all of your requiremnt is met by DNN core modules then I suggest you should go for it you can save much development time.
It would be Better if you download the framework and have a look at it in refrence to your requirement.If you need my help plz feel free to contact me.

Hi,
I'm able to run my .aspx files when I set up virtual directories locally on c:\. I do that by typing "http://localhost/myapp.aspx" for example. But if I upload the .aspx-file to my web domain and then try to run it doesn't work.
For example: "http://www.mydomain.com/myapp.aspx"
It looks like it doesn't compile the ASP-code and it just shows the site in HTML. My questions are:
1. How do I do to show the aspx file correctly on my web domain address?
2. How should I name my ASP-application so that I only need to type "http://www.mydomain.com" to open my site? (For example in HTML you would name it index.html)

Use the Publish Web Site command in the Build menu. You can publish it directly to the site, or publish it to a folder on your computer and upload the files.

You would use the name that is defined in the web site. Usually it's Default.aspx.

1 - install .NET and register the ASP.NET ISAPI filter on your server.
2 - configure IIS on your server to load the aspx file you want to load if no page is specified on the URL. index.html is preconfigured.

Is ASP.NET registered in IIS? You can check this by bringing up the properties for your virtual directory and looking for an ASP.NET tab. If it isn't run the aspnet_regiis utility (you can find it where the .NET framework is installed) with the -i switch to register it.

Define default page names in IIS. The standard default page names are things like default.aspx, index.aspx etc.

In the WebServer page there are some xtra settings to set to make the webserver run aspx-files.
In the section Web Service Extensions
set Active Server Pages to prohibited
Set any ASP.NET vX.y.zzzz to Allowed.

I have some required field validators in one column for editing actual hours. However, I am trying to update this, and I am databidning the control in postback and !PostBack. However, it does not seem to matter about the validation controls. When I try to update, I get this error:
Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using <pages enableeventvalidation="true"> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation.

Thank you for reading. Here is my situation. I have a web service that takes as input user name and password, that returns an xml document..if all credentials match the document contains info about the user something like this
