Hi All,
I have tried couple of (Encrypt , Decrypt)functions, but thing is Decrypt fails in some cases like
when I encrypt a string = "FY 2004-2005"(encrypt function encrypts the string without any problem)
then I send encrypted string to other page through query string
I get encrypted the string in the other page from query string and when I decrypt that encrypted string, it fails there for some cases as I mentioned below
This Decrypt function I have fails for certain encrypted strings of "FY 2004-2005", "Q4 2004", "Jan 2004".
Can any one help me giving Encrypt, Decrypt function that would work for above strings. (like "FY 2004-2005" , "Q4 2004" , "Jan 2004" and all others)

Hi, I've inherited a asp.net web project that is a front end to a legacy application which is accessed via a com api.
The seems to be some memory usage issues which I'd like to get some advice on.
Basically what happens is that in the Session_Start event the com object is stored in a session variable. When the user logs out or the Session_End event is called the object is destroyed with
Marshal.ReleaseComObject(HttpContext.Current.Session.Item(sessionvar))
This seems to work fine when one user logs in and then logs out, but if User 1 logs in and then User 2, User 3 etc each subsequent user adds 2MB to the memory usage. This memory does not seem to be released until all users have logged out. Obviously this is not ideal, as during a typical day users log in and out many times, but there are never any times when all users are logged out.
Can anyone offer any advice?

i think your page includes master page so it should contain content placeholder Where you can add the javasrcipt .

Hi, suppose I have binary files stored in a field called Resumes and mime type for each file stored in a field called DocType. Normally if one wants to display binary data in the browser, one has to use a data reader to read the binary data after retrieving them from the database. Then put the data into a byte array, determine the file to be displayed, and determine its mime type. Then finally to display data, one can use the Response.Write() method passing in the byte array as an argument. I have done all of the above, but I'm unsure if the way I determined the mime type and the file to be displayed is correct. I've put the names of the columns in to the the code like the following.
'Normally I would use the following line of code if only one file is to be displayed Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment;filename=something.doc")
'But to display many files I use the line of code below
Response.AddHeader("Content-Disposition", "attachment;filename=Resumes")
'I would use this if only one file is to be displayed Response.ContentType = DirectCast(AD("image/img"), String)
'But I use the code below for multiple files
Response.ContentType = DirectCast(AD("DocType"), String)
Can I grab data from a database like that, where I just pass in the column name as an argument? If not how should I go about it? Thank you in advance for your help.

You can't. This code is telling the browser how to display a file. You cannot use this to embed multiple files into your page. If they are images, you need to write them to disc, and pass the paths to img tags. For this reason, it's better to store paths to images in your database. Other types, such as word docs, cannot be shown as anything less than the entire page.

You can't. You can draw a chart from the data source, the grid is another view of hte data. You can write your own code using SVG, or, more likely, GDI+. Or you can buy a library, like Dundas Charts, or look over the web for a free one.

As per the requirement of my development i have to export the data fetched from an SQL select statement to MS Excel Worksheet through asp.net2.0. Can anyone please suggest the code for the same.

ASP.NET is irrelevant, as your web tier won't do this. So, it's all done by your codebehind, and the code is the same either way. The easiest way to put data in Excel is to write it as a CSV file ( comma seperated values ). Excel will turn these into columns. Otherwise, you can interop with Excel to do something more fancy.

You need to configure IIS for this ( just google, the main thing is you need to create a dummy certificate for testing ). your other issue is, you must always use full, not relative, URLs to navigate away from the HTTPS part of your site, otherwise, it will stay HTTPS

Hi there
I would like to use a expanding panel on my page which looks just like the tabs at the top of mozilla or IE7, except that it runs down the page instead of across the top, and when a tab is selected it opens left to right, as if coming out of the left side of the screen. Preferably when it opens it should give a similar effect to the AJAX collapsable panel with a fade smooth fade in and out, or for those of you who have seen the XBOX360 interfaces tabbing system, then similar to that. The AJAX panel unfortunately only moves up and down. Does anyone have any code which they have used before to accomplish something similar or have a link to a tool which can provide this feature???
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am out of ideas of where to look, or what to search for.

Hi
I am developing an web site in ASP.NET using c#.
Site run fine when number of users are limited say 9 to 10.
When we open 3 browser from 4 to 5 pc for testing purpose then in some browser it some css files or js doesn't get downloaded.Also it gives Time Error for Session means get Session get killed.
If there is any setting IIS or in Web.config file to increase connection pooling,please reply.

Sounds like you have bandwidth issues. So long as you're not using SQL Server Express Edition, there's no generic reason for you to have this issue that can be solved in code or in your config.

hi everybody, first offall i would like to thank evry body in this group.

i have use one java script for validation the input.
i have written to the coding in jave script.and also it is waorking but only for form1. not for other two forms.
can u tell how can i acess the same script in other two forms inorder to validate the input..

Make sure you include the javascript file in your page, which I guess you already have done so...
Then.. in your jscript1 function. When you do the validaction to check the input, did you pass in the form name?
Example, if you have such code: form1.txtTextBox.value = "xxx"; Then you need to make sure in your form2 and form3, you have the same form name, "form1".

It is an error to use a section registered as allowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS.
Please help me in fixing this error

It means you have an asp.net app in a subdirectory, and like the error says, you need to configure a virtual directory at that subdir level in IIS

Hi,
Case:
1) Datagrid Bound columns generated at runtime and populated from the dataset.
2) Datagrid contains a select button. When the select button is pressed a new report is generated.
Language: Visual Studio 2.0, ASP.Net, C#
Problem: During the first page_load grid is populated properly but when it is postback Datagrids items and cells are not visible in the select buttons itemcommand method.
By referring the articles in the google i came to know that i should not be using page_load, instead i should call the method in the initializecomponent() , but since i am working on .Net 2.0 it does not have initializecomponent method. I have also tried PreLoad and its not working.
Please find below my sample code so that u get a better idea.
